Something odd happened a couple of days ago regarding the Companion Health Bar

I have been playing with the two companions for about a year now, then about two days ago, the health bar just appeared, upper left screen; I never had it before. I searched and noted that several people have inquired about moving or removing the thing, which would be nice.
My question is why in the world did it just appear now? I was playing the Silly Jester stuff when it happened on an Intel iMac, OS 13.7. When I get back home, I will see if it is on my M2 Mac mini.
There was a long update when I got here before I could play, and It looks like there was another maintenance outage today. The thing is pesky and covered my mini map.
