Settings Option for Tamriel Map Changes

In reference to the latest update to the Tamriel map where your own player homes are hidden unless you add them to favorites and all wayshrines except one in each zone are hidden until you zoom in to the zone map:

I can absolutely understand and appreciate that this update is likely wanted and enjoyed by a good number of players, new and old alike. However, there are also players like me who have been playing ESO for almost 11 years straight now, have developed muscle memory for frequently-used wayshrines, and have collected an enormous amount of... well, collectibles. Having to click into a zone is just a minor hindrance more than anything for me and a number of other players I've spoken to who feel the same about the changes. The limit of 100 collectibles shared between everything in the collection tab, including houses means that adding a dozen, if not more, player homes to it is just not viable or convenient. I filled up the 100 collectible slots the very day the favorites system launched, and I still didn't get everything I wanted to favorite. That didn't include a single player home, mind you, because there was no reason to.

As of right now, I'm using an outdated version of an add-on I never even wanted to use in the first place because there is a bug (NOT intended feature) that essentially causes the map to revert back to showing all player homes and wayshrines no matter what map layer I'm on. This has been a godsend since the update and the only thing keeping me sane when using the map now, but it also isn't really something I'd like to rely on just to keep the map as it was for 11 years. The visual touch-ups? The zone names on zoom-in? Those are nice touches. I like those. Those are fine. They also look just fine even with all the wayshrines because by the time they start fading in, the wayshrine icons have spread out enough to see them pretty clearly.

So, to get to my point, can we please get a settings option to turn off the UI changes to the map? Again, the visual changes are perfectly fine, but the changes to the icons is just awful for me. At the same time, I absolutely understand it's entirely personal preference and don't think the changes should be taken from those who like them. That's exactly what the settings menu is there for. Please, can we use that so I don't have to worry about the next update breaking the already-broken add-on I don't want to use anyway and forcing this change on me?

If the above is not an option allow a seperate favorite list for travel purposes. Allow us to favorite wayshrines and homes on a seperate favorites list.

Not ideal, but certainly a usable work-around. It would just have to be a pretty big list given how many wayshrines are in the game at this point. Still, I'd hope they could come up with a settings option to just toggle the icons all back on. If not, then I'd take that as an alternative.

    I agree.
I think overall this was a good change, for all the reasons ZoS stated.
But as a long-time player, it's annoying. I'd like the ability to change a setting to let me see all the wayshrines, houses, trials/dungeons etc. on the Aurbis map. Options for each separately, like it is on the zone maps.

The options are already there for the zone maps, why not let us use these options on the fully-zoomed-out map?

I'm on console, so I can't (currently) use an add-on to give me the map I prefer.

I like the map change (but I'm not against a setting). But for Auridon, why is the wayshrine for Skywatch visible on the Tamriel-level map? Why isn't it the one for Vulkhel Guard, because that's the starter city for Auridon?

I'm a bit confused: we have 100 collectibles that we can favourite PLUS 100 homes that we can favourite - if you add a home to favourite it should not consume a collectible favourite "slot"...
    Am I missing anything?

I think you might be. If you are favoriting your own home it is shared with the collectible pool, as it is considered a collectible. Either they changed it in a minor update since the major update and I didn't realize, or you may be thinking of housing tour favorites, which are a different thing. I just know when the update hit and I went to add my houses to my favorites it said I already had all of my favorite slots filled.

Oh, excellent! I didn't see that add-on got its update for the patch. I'll have to give it a try. That should be at least more stable than my current method, but still would be nice to have an 'official' option - both to cut down on the need for add-ons just to get basic settings options and for those on console.

EDIT: This indeed did the trick! Mostly. It unfortunately doesn't affect trials and dungeons, but... I can work with it, for now. There might be another out there or being worked on for just that or something. Even if not, I can maybe live with that, annoying as it might be, but the important parts really were the wayshrines and owned houses.

Oh, ok, thanks for the explanation. I didn't even know you could favourite your own home from the collection tab, I only favourite mine from the housing tour menu. Now I get it :)

I agree. I appreciate them trying to reduce the number of map icons to make it easier to use, I've been using an addon to do that for years now, but what I want doesn't match what ZOS have decided we want. I want to keep all the wayshrines and all my owned houses visible and hide dungeons, trials and unowned houses. (I've just noticed while playing around with the settings that there doesn't seem to be a way to hide unowned houses in zone maps, if you uncheck houses they still show up, which seems counter-intuitive.)

I had hoped this update would enable me to delete the addon and just use the base game settings, because I prefer that when possible, but not only has it not done that, I now need a second addon (which fortunately I was already using) to get back the useful icons ZOS took away.

Check out IsJusta Favorite Collectibles, it lets you have more than 100 favourites total, and different ones on each character if you want to.

They should have chosen the "optional" route on this. The game is now 11 years old and some people are playing it for a long time, anything major UI change should be optional in my opinion.

So i am one of those people who prefers the old map, cluttered but i liked it. It had that completed feeling. Now it feels like my character is just created and has no wayshrine unlocked.

I built it in mind of just showing all the wayshrines and houses(owned and unowned), as i usually show all the trials/dungeons and arenas anyway i left that bit alone.
But i merely just expanded the functionality of the filters to bring back the old style map features

    Completely agree with OP!

Please give me an option to get all my houses and wayshrines back on my map. I did not ask for a forced decluttering of the Tamriel map with the time expense of having to always go into each zone map to travel to a preferred location.

As a long time player, I would guess 90% of my travel selection took place from the Tamriel-level map pre-U45. Now, I'm forced to go to the zone-level map for almost everything. While it might only take 3-4 more seconds each time, over the course of a day its often costing me minutes of play-time...over a course of a year, that will add up to hours of wasted time.

For those of us on console who liked having the wayshrines and owned houses available on the Tamriel map, please make this an option.

I can live without the group dungeons and trials being on there.
