In reference to the latest update to the Tamriel map where your own player homes are hidden unless you add them to favorites and all wayshrines except one in each zone are hidden until you zoom in to the zone map:
I can absolutely understand and appreciate that this update is likely wanted and enjoyed by a good number of players, new and old alike. However, there are also players like me who have been playing ESO for almost 11 years straight now, have developed muscle memory for frequently-used wayshrines, and have collected an enormous amount of... well, collectibles. Having to click into a zone is just a minor hindrance more than anything for me and a number of other players I've spoken to who feel the same about the changes. The limit of 100 collectibles shared between everything in the collection tab, including houses means that adding a dozen, if not more, player homes to it is just not viable or convenient. I filled up the 100 collectible slots the very day the favorites system launched, and I still didn't get everything I wanted to favorite. That didn't include a single player home, mind you, because there was no reason to.
As of right now, I'm using an outdated version of an add-on I never even wanted to use in the first place because there is a bug (NOT intended feature) that essentially causes the map to revert back to showing all player homes and wayshrines no matter what map layer I'm on. This has been a godsend since the update and the only thing keeping me sane when using the map now, but it also isn't really something I'd like to rely on just to keep the map as it was for 11 years. The visual touch-ups? The zone names on zoom-in? Those are nice touches. I like those. Those are fine. They also look just fine even with all the wayshrines because by the time they start fading in, the wayshrine icons have spread out enough to see them pretty clearly.
So, to get to my point, can we please get a settings option to turn off the UI changes to the map? Again, the visual changes are perfectly fine, but the changes to the icons is just awful for me. At the same time, I absolutely understand it's entirely personal preference and don't think the changes should be taken from those who like them. That's exactly what the settings menu is there for. Please, can we use that so I don't have to worry about the next update breaking the already-broken add-on I don't want to use anyway and forcing this change on me?
