Just wow! No combat bug either!

[snip]

Love the test so far ZOS.

I am excited for the next implementation of testing already! These huge Zerg on Zerg on Zerg action is epic with no loss of frames/lag and everything working correctly like break free. Gj

Increase the pop cap, the game is running well. Some skills I wish they'd just bin *sacrificial bones* and don't think there's longevity in this form of PvP as theory crafting does need to be present, currently it'd grow stale relatively quick. However clearly there's something to see here in that something(s) somewhere is hugely impacting performance.

It's fun for now but I've already experienced one crash and several framerate dips when the entire server congregated in one place. Skills seem to be firing ok for now though.

Just wanted to reiterate that the focus here is not on balance, but overall game performance. This is just a test and not a full on game mode, so balance was not the core concern. So we appreciate anyone playing without the balance element in mind for this test.

No offense, but providing a bit more balance—especially for classes that were already struggling in PVP—wouldn’t have been a bridge too far. While I understand that this isn’t the purpose of the Vengeance campaign, it speaks to broader issues with class balance.

This has been a fantastic time - the only thing that finally kicked me out of Cyrodiil needing to eat lunch AND the really close thunder.

A++, I had no lag, no frame stuttering, no skill misfires, oil was a delightful terror again, nobody rubberbanding... whatever y'all did to this, keep it up, it made fighting fun again!

Just a problem my end instead of your end 2 large groups take it to 25fps

be good if you can get this performance without all the limitations i take it is your servers cant cope which i thought got upgraded not so long ago

The performance and community agreement goes to show how much more people enjoy FUNCTIONAL combat.

Remember ESO's combat particulary PVP is designed like a fighting game. You have to keep your priorities right for it to work. First prio is performance obviously. Then comes scale. LAST comes Flashy dlc money grabbing procs and effects.

Early indications from this morning was that pop cap is >=200/faction. At least, AD hit 200 at one fight. I would guess that this aligns with at least double the normal popcap.

It is extremely difficult to separate ZOS's stated disregard for any balance consideration with the request for feedback on how the combat feels/is "fun" (direct quote, emphasis mine; "and how combat feels (responsive or not, fun or not, etc.)?").
Consider that the feedback thread specifically asks "What you think of the simplified abilities?"
Any response to address this mandates commentary on ZOS's abject and admitted failure to do reasonable balancing.
Unbalanced combat, with poorly thought out abilities is not fun, and the simplified abilities in their current unbalanced state are bad. ZOS's continuance to insist that this criticism is invalid is pants-on-head.

@acastanza_ESO raises a valid point, and I’d like to echo it with a bit of context.

Earlier, I noted that while I understand the Vengeance campaign’s stated goal is performance testing, some level of balance—especially for classes already struggling in PVP—might not have been too much to ask. What @acastanza_ESO underscores is why: asking players to evaluate how combat “feels” while dismissing balance as irrelevant is a contradiction. Responsiveness, fun, and flow are all deeply affected by whether players feel like their tools are viable.

You can’t meaningfully test the feel of simplified abilities while ignoring whether those abilities are tuned to perform, or if they disproportionately advantage certain classes. If a class can’t contribute as effectively in a fight, then how is that player supposed to comment on combat’s “fun factor” without their feedback being compromised by frustration?

It’s entirely fair that this campaign isn’t meant to be balanced like a full-fledged mode, but ZOS should acknowledge that design choices made within the imbalance still affect player feedback. Pretending otherwise only confuses the ask.

Isn't this just semantics? If something feels weak and clunky in practice then it probably isn't balanced, and probably does need a buff, look at Necro. If something feels unfair to fight against, then it's probably overpowered, look at Rushing Agony. Fun and balance go hand in hand more than players realize.

I've tried DK, NB, and Warden. DK felt good in smaller fights, but in larger ones I felt like a big slow target dummy. NB felt overrated, no range. Warden was a bit weird but solid, fast and tanky, fast birds. The individual meta heavily favors ranged weapons and classes with a ranged kit, even more than live, there's seemingly zero payoff for melee weapons or taking the risk to get into melee range in the first place. Offensive Resto might be cracked.

Yeah I hopped on my Necro because NB felt like you do nothing when it comes to Keep defense. Though NB does act as a decent backline healer.

Specific feedback that the team is looking for includes the following:
Were you able to successfully get into large-scale battles? Yes with a group and without a group.

Did large-scale battles feel better latency-wise and how combat feels (responsive or not, fun or not, etc.)? No latency on the NA US side of things. Combat was very responsive.

What you think of the simplified abilities? Easy to slot specific abilities on both bars. One for Offense and the other for Defense with a mix of survivability-heals and purges.

Did any of your characters become ‘corrupted’ if they leave Cyrodiil mid battle, lost connection, got booted, hit lag, etc? Currently, no character corruption from player res timeout or zoning out of Cyrodiil.

What are your initial thoughts on Cyrodiil Champions (Vengeance Campaign)?
    https://www.reddit.com/r/elderscrollsonline/comments/1jiym9y/loving_the_vengeance_campaign/
Vengeance is a BLAST. I was all over the Cyrodiil map; in and out of groups, taking keeps, towns, resources, and PvP slaying peeps of all factions; even laid down a few siege weapons here and there. It felt like a true Cyrodiil campaign! On top of this, I don't normally enjoy Cyrodiil for the PvP action.

Do you have any general feedback? Only feedback I find is the lack of mount speed.
Note: all this was from 10AM-3PM EST

No, the slow mount speed had me arriving after my zerg was cleaning up.

Seems to handle a lot more players pretty well. Skills are generally fluid and responsive, the fast Warden birds are nice. It doesn't feel like any individual player is making an impact though, zerg fights are a player count.

What you think of the simplified abilities?
Pleasantly surprised, seemed decently balanced, felt good to use, but the kits felt too limited for open world.

What are your initial thoughts on Cyrodiil Champions (Vengeance Campaign)?
I was pessimistic going in, found it better than I expected, but still got bored pretty fast. You're zerger #827523 and you either like that or you don't. Dueling was surprisingly good, the only aspect I liked better than live.

Do you have any general feedback?
Would be really cool to be able to do duels in PvE zones with the Vengeance ruleset.

I like the vengeance campaign because there were no damage procs, ball groups, excessive cross-healing, pull sets or bombers. With some stamina morphs and weapon-choice impact, this can truly be a beautiful thing. Thank you Zos for caring about Cyrodiil.

No lag but also this is the worst pvp experience I have ever played.

Combat is slow, sluggish, and has no room for skill expression. Just a numbers game.
