Console addons: Does this mean eventual cross play?

When there is parity in this regard, it seems more realistic they could do cross play.

I think having all the people in one place would be a good thing.

What does 'bennies' mean in this context?

Many years ago I heard it used to mean money (short for Benjamins, which is somehow American slang for money) but all ESO addons are free so unless you're assuming ZOS are suddenly going to start charging for them that makes no sense.

The internet tells me it's either drugs or rude tourists and I assume you don't mean either.

Hopefully not as server refresh didn't worked as expected for NA afaik and don't think they want it worse than it is already.

being able to upgrade components and not being limited to Sony or Microsoft's scheduled upgrade releases? I mean PC has had nearly all of consoles benefits from the git go. The only thing I can think of it missing is built in voice chat, but we just use this great app called Discord.

I would think crossplay would be more "opening" the servers up to each then forcing everyone together

So it becomes NA 1, NA 2 and NA 3 instead of platform dependent that way the whole unique names of things, separate economies and such won't get immediately obliterated. I would think that things like crown store purchases and achievements/collectables would need to be made account wide to make it work

Would also make it a perfect launch point for a switch 2 port ;)

I hope so, being able to play with other platforms/servers would be pretty cool especially with how low endgame population is.
However console getting addons isn't a direct pathway to server migration i mean maybe? but who knows Zos usually plans this stuff 2-3 years down the road.
But it does remove the argument of no addons for console so we can't have cross-play. Of course console will have limited addons not as diverse as PC but still at least they gonna have something.

Also Rich said in an interview they aren't against cross platform just that it will be quite complex to do so.

Seems like a lot of people feel there's been a population collapse over the last few years. What happens when each individual platforms population is so thin the economy quits functioning, guilds go dark, trials don't fill, battlegrounds don't pop, Gray Host goes quiet(er)? What's the minimum population required for the game to function above the level of solo pve'er?

Some would say were already there, that all their friends quit, that getting 12 people for a trial or even four people for a dungeon takes forever if it can be done at all. Hopefully cross play isn't a pipe dream, merging all the platforms would make for great advertising and breath new life into the game for everybody.

It's wild because casuals, people that just rnds or quest around don't want that feature cause "vivec" is always full.
Really pisses me off how ignorant they are, pvp and pve are pretty cooked population wise and we need of a cross server/platform feature.
If people are so afraid about economy then just disable cross server trading (outside of group loot like in trials or dungeons) that's it, no issues to economy no nothing like each server got their own traders their own economy etc but if lets say me a pc eu player got a trader and someone from PS NA stands next to one each one has their own respectable guild trader (while we standing in front of the same npc). Overlapping names of accounts or guilds? Just put an icon for xbox/pc/ps near them so let's they there is a @orcslayer69 with a PS after his name and @orcslayer69 with PC in front of his name (zos can put an invisible char to tell them apart (or just have PS/NA/PC after their name).
Like the whole economy aspect is so easy to solve if you put some thought into it the hardest part is to actually code it so the servers don't explode.

I cannot even "crossplay" my characters between the PCNA and PCEU servers, both of which have allowed addons for years. Why should allowing addons on the console servers be seen as hinting at future crossplay abilities between the PC/Mac, PS, and Xbox servers? The lack of crossplay wasn't dictated by an inability to use addons on the console servers, but rather by a separation of the databases which store the characters and other data used by the various servers.

        I certainly hope not.

I have yet to see one example of Cross Gen play where console users don't get the short end of the stick. That's why lately games with cross gen support also come with a Consoles Only option.

I doubt it's on the immediate horizon, but I would imagine cross-play is inevitable as eventually it may make sense to consolidate populations when/if ESO sees a significant decline in player activity.

Also people (such as myself) pointing out that there's no correlation between crossplay and the use of addons. It's about the separate databases used by the various servers, period. There have been other threads about crossplay in which people were discussing issues that would need to be addressed if there were ever going to be a merger of the databases, but that doesn't mean it would be impossible, just that there are issues that would need to be handled carefully to avoid any problems caused by a merger of the databases. It's a more complex issue than simply "Throw enough money at it and it can be done."

It probably depends on how long it takes for their new MMO to come out and if it succeeds or not. If it flops, then they might reinvest more in things that have, or remaster Skyrim a few dozen more times.

99% of my friends had quit this game 10-11 years ago. It happens with MMOs and is to be expected that players will stop playing. I quit several times throughout the years but would return when there is new content. However know I have reason to consistently play the game as guilds I am in are active currently though I'm a filthy RPer and don't play much beyond overworld PvE content.
