Hi, the skills 1-5 and ult and movement keys are not optimally assigned. try strafing left and kitting the 5 skill. Lack of mouse click on skills has something to do with this.

What are your layouts to not mess with other important keys like 'use', 'claim' etc.

    An MMO mouse is the "simple" answer

    mouse with extra buttons on the side ("mmo mouse" or "gaming mouse")

    assigning those to the ability keys (1-5) helps a lot.

    Thanks for the advice of course. I will look into a mouse.

    If anyone else has a good keyboard layout with good old fashioned mouse, let me know.

    Unfortunately there's not really a good layout with a default mouse, due to needing mouse to aim (takes 1 hand), then needing to center ability keys and other frequently used keys around the WASD movement keys.

    There really isn't a great way to lay them out since "Q" is for quickslot items (potions, etc), "E" is use/interact, "R" is Ultimate, "F" is to interact with other players (when mouse curser is over them) and "X" is to activate synergies (at least for default settings) and are all keys that ideally are as easy to use as 1-5 and WASD.

    The best option I can think of in the meantime would be to maybe try rebinding abilities 4 and 5 to keys "C" and "Z" so that you're not reaching across, but reaching down instead?

    "C" by default is open character menu, so that will need rebinding as well. I can't remember if "Z" does anything super important by default, but might need to rebind that to something else as well.

    This awkwardness is why I tended to slot "passive" abilities (like bound aegis, inner light or camo hunter) that are slotted mostly for their passive effects, or abilities with super long durations (like twilight tormentor, defensive rune, or DK major brutality) on key 5 before I got a gaming mouse (then if I was using them, I switched them to key 1 after I got a gaming mouse due to how I hold my mouse) so that I wouldn't have to press that key much, if at all while playing.

    You'll have to find something that suits you. If you take me as an example, I am not a WASD player in any game. I place my hand(s) on the keyboard in such a way that my middle finger rests on the same key all the time, whereas the other fingers stretch to various keys. For my left hand that means:

    Middle finger =
    E = Run forwards

    Index finger =
    F = Action
    R = Ability slot 4 (typically AOE damage skill)
    D = Ultimate
    G = Draw Weapon
    T = Dodge Roll
    5 = Interrupt

    Ring finger =
    W = Sprint
    S = Crouch
    2 = Ability slot 2 (typically a heal)
    3 = Ability slot 3

    Little finger =
    Q = Switch to back bar
    A = Switch to front bar
    1 = Ability slot 5
    `/ F4 = Potion (via mappable keyboard)
    Tab = Use synergy

    Thumb =
    Space bar = Ability slot 1 (typically the spammable)
    Alt = Jump
    Ctrl = Call mount

    The keyboard I use is a Tex Shinobi, on my lap, while I view the game on the TV in my living room. That keyboard has an integrated trackpoint, e.g. mouse:

    Yes, this is really what I use and, yes, if you're not a lifelong Thinkpad fan, don't use this. However, I'm showing it to explain how I can rest both hands on the keyboard and have access to lots of keys from a resting position. Absent something like this, I would probably invest in an RPG gaming mouse for ESO. So, for the right hand:

    Middle finger =
    On the trackpoint, aka mouse, aka mini joystick

    Index finger =
    V = Run left

    Ring finger =
    H = Tab target
    J = Run backwards
    N = Run right

    Little finger =
    Rests on K / not used / command pet

    Thumb =
    Left / middle mouse button = Light Attack
    Right mouse button = Block
