There are situations that a penalty punishes for situations outside of your control, especially with DCs. I agree people that quit a match can be a pain, but you can't have a high penalty that punishes the unintentional.
And I'm serious. Every time I enter PvP in this game, all I wish for is a way to never return here again. So, change this… 300 years seems fair enough to me. Please.

Problems are only solved by fixing the root cause of the issue, not the symptoms. Root cause is balance.
People usually quit matches because they do not want to be there. Make it so people want to be there. This includes balance in matchmaking and balance in classes/sets. Most do not want to be in an 8v8 vs six sorcs or two bots running roa.
Point is, removing the penalty is a band aid. Zos already implements way too many band aids and then permanently ignores the actual problem. The band aids can and usually do make the situation worse. I am against removing the penalty but all for zos fixing the actual problems that cause people to leave bgs
Band aids are a waste of time and money 8n the long run..
The screenshot tells me it’s actually OP who was hit by the penalty and this is a failed attempt at sarcasm…

I'm jealous.

It's not that simple. This screenshot is just one example! If I want to level up my Scribing skills, I don’t have to go into PvP, that’s true. But it’s one of the options available to me. So, I go there, and I absolutely hate it. What I hate the most? To get the script, I don’t just have to do something I despise so much that words can’t even express it, but I also have to win. Participating isn't enough for ZoS. We have to win! Just participating once isn't sufficient; I have to keep doing it until my team wins. Once again, I don’t have to go in there, but it’s one option available to me, so I try. I truly, deeply wish there was a way to get a 30,000-year penalty instead.

If you dislike PvP you have two other options to obtain the scripts you are missing (Delve and Mages Guild quests). Why did you choose PvP option in the first place?
Mr_Friendly wrote: »To clarify, how are you getting 30 minute deserter penalty, anyway? When I have been disconnected, or pulled out of BG into IC as mentioned above, it's only been 5 minutes.

Or maybe PvP was the last option I had available today.
The biggest problem isn't that I hate PvP. The biggest problem is that I hate PvP, and the game rules "force" me to participate until I win the match. Wouldn't it be enough to obtain the script after participating in a PvP activity, whether winning or losing? Why "force" players to win a match?
Just to keep PvP activities more alive?! Hmm... yeah, seems fair.

I remember Delve and Mages Guild quests can be shared, at least one of them can. So you can do more than one per day.
If it only requires people to participate in BG and not winning, most people might just join and stand at spawn. If it requires people winning, it kinda force the person to really be in there and fight. At least that's what I thought.
