Ancient Orc motif farm

I just decided to do some farming for these motifs and I got one in about 20 boss kills.

But I dont know if there is a cooldown on these motifs? I only found some very old threads about Ancient Orc motifs.

They also said in that old thread that mobs have a chance to drop them to, is that still correct?

I think that is true, but the mobs have a much lower chance to drop them than bosses. I don’t know if there is a cooldown, but if so it’s not like the one day cooldown for zone daily quest motifs, or at least it wasn’t when I famed them many years ago.

The motifs are split across the two public dungeons, just in case you hadn’t seen that mentioned.

I have found them by killing bosses, by killing mobs, and by looting containers in the Wrothgar public dungeons. In short, don't just focus on farming the bosses, go through the public dungeons killing everything and looting everything.

Edit: The UESP Wiki doesn't mention that the motif pages can drop from containers, but I've definitely found them that way. I don't know the drop rates, but I'd guess that maybe Bosses > Mobs > Containers.

By the way, it was specifically in the Old Orsinium public dungeon, which I was farming for a particular motif page at that time, although I'd expect that it should also be true in Rkindaleft-- I just haven't done as much farming in there.

Edit: Also, I think the fact that the motif pages can drop from containers was mentioned years ago in these forums-- at least, I'm pretty sure I remember reading that back when I first started farming for the pages. I don't know how difficult it would be to find those old posts in the forums, but I'll try to take a screenshot if I ever come across a page in a container. That's actually harder than it sounds, because I have a habit if pressing R to "loot all" as soon as I open a container. Besides which, Old Orsinium is overflowing with containers of various types.

Just enable the autoloot option in the settings.
Isn't it easier to take everything without doing anything than to press "R" every time?

The motif drops from both bosses and mobs. I have read many times that the motif can be found in containers, but I have not found it myself.
In each public dungeon, set up your own route, kill bosses and all mobs along the way. Keep in mind that the boss respawn time is 5 minutes (although some bosses miraculously respawned earlier). Probably, this may depend on the entry of new players into the dungeon.
In my case, the route included 3 bosses in each of the dungeons (10-30 minutes per each page).

I decided to farm one motif per day because of the unknown cooldown, I wonder if I get a motif in old orsinium them move to Rkindaleft if the cooldown follows over? I might try today to see.

Found a pretty good farm route in Old orsinium

I farmed it in the past, it is one per day, similar to the newer ones.

it is not on a cooldown.
also it drops not just from bosses, but from trash mobs too.
the drop rate is not stellar, though.
i farmed Old Orsinium for drops and bought some missing pages from the Guild Traders, they were not very expensive.
