Argonian Customization

Please add more customization options for the Argonians. More scale (textures/patterns), fin, feather, and horn options as well as adornments. Maybe tail options/types. More skin, scale, markings, horn, fin, and feather colors. I wish they had vibrant colors and markings to choose from. All of their skin tones kind of look the same (dull shades of gray, brown, and green) when you choose scale textures/markings. Please add these options in a base-game update.

If possible, please update or change their head structures so they more closely resemble the ones in the promo art and trailers (as well as Skyrim). Or even resemble Baldur's Gate 3 Dragonborn. Maybe release it as a playable Argonian subrace that's made available in a base-game update...

ALL races could benefit from having more options to choose from (skin tones (fur and markings for Khajiit), hair colors, eye colors, ect).

The Bright Throat skin is nice for this. More skins like that one would be cool.

Iridescent scales, metallic horns, pink hair, etc. A dragon-like argorian would look cool.

I agree that argorians need more customization options just like khajiits.

I wish this forum would make a rule to not allow random AI images. Why does this even have human-like lips at the front! Argonians can also already be done to look quite dragon-like (more horn hairstyles would make it easier) and they don't have hair. Unless it's a wig, or a bugged/badly done ESO cosmetic where they always draw the short straw in quality.

I do wish they had more and better customisation and cosmetics. Their base game feathers on hairstyles are so dark and muddy in colours, and newly released hairstyles are often disappointing for them. For example a hairstyle such as draping locks gets nice, long and free hair on men, mer and khajiit, and argonians get two tuffs of feathers and a giant bald spot.

The texture on their skins is also bad, especially where the tails attach, and why do their have a stairway at the top of their tails? It does not look like some ridges if that what it's supposed to be.

I do wish we could make them look a little more draconic or raptor-like (like in the pictures) but, I'd be happy with just better textures, more color options (scales, markings, horns, feathers, fins, eyes, ect) as well as more scale types, markings, and horn/fin/feather options. And yeah, the tails are HORRIBLE (texture wise). The overall shape is okay. But I wish they had different ridges on them (maybe spines). Could always add tail types so we can choose whether we have ridges, spines, or even fins. Obviously better textures...The area where the tail connects to the spine, or back, is especially awful. Very blurry, unnatural, and has a visible seam. The Argonians and Khajiit need better tails for sure!

They could add it in base-game (preferable) or as a cosmetic pack in the Crown Store (NOT crates).

I wouldn't want them to look too human. Just more options and better textures. Such as more colors (scales, fins, horns, feathers, and eyes), scale types and markings. Maybe add a few playable subraces (like in my previous post) in order to have different lore-friendly looks (some look pretty draconic or like raptors).

I'm also ALL for more Khajiit options (subraces, markings, fur/hair colors). Definitely better tail options (so they don't look like long skinny noodles). ALL races could do with a bit of an update (textures, hair/eye colors, tattoos/markings/makeup, ect). Green tinted skin tone options for Orismer (like what some of the npcs have) and maybe some actual tusk options (short, long, broken, ect).

I deleted my previous comment cause someone didn't like the picture I used. I still like ai images though. I do agree with and want more scale colors, brighter hair colors, along with more better textures for argorians too. Having scale patterns to be seperate from body markings and change the color of the patterns would be good too.

I think currently they look all too close to the same design. I think that Black Marsh would have tribes that could look more like other reptiles than just the same lizard shape with a few augmentations. A couple more dragon-like faces, a turtle like face, and a couple of dinosaur-like faces.

Lorewise, the classic styles can be "more civilized" organized in tribes while the others can be more animalistic, less tribal. Maybe even the Saxhleel would call their "tribes" packs.

Agreed. There should be more variety for sure! Especially since Argonians are kind of a mashup of several animal species (makes it easier for them to adapt to ANY situation, which is one of the MANY things that make them so cool). They're also very ALIEN (another thing that makes them cool). Currently they kind of look more toad-like in the faces. Squashed. I liked the more raptor/draconic appearance they had in Skyrim or Elder Scrolls Online Murkmire/Shadows of the Hist release art. They can keep the current design and just add to it for more varied looks (turtles, snakes, different lizards, ect).

I definitely would want them to look more like their artwork, and this reminded me of what I despite most of their models. Even more than the badly textured tail attachment and how tails are forgotten

Which is their heads. Their heads in ESO are just awful and you can clearly tell they have just pushed and pull the head of men, mer and khajiit a little to look argonian-ish. Like they didn't even bother fully adjust the facial animations to fit them, and instead kept many of the old ones which looks weird. Most noticeable is the man/mer eye and eyebrow movement which on argonians make the inner eyebrow ridge and nose area move weirdly up and down in a way that makes no sense for their faces.

You also see it on their head shape. It's a human head with a snout attached at the front 〇> which makes the back and, well, all of it look off, with weird shaping sliders. Skyrim's isn't great either, especially for female ones, but it has a more natural (for a lizard looking people) transition between head, neck and shoulders.
Like compare the chapter trailer argonians to the in game ones. This model is a bit boring (and they use the same one for every argonian), but that is not a human head made to look like a lizard, it's a lizard-like head with a proper lizardy neck to fit it.

    Idea 1:

A lot of variety in skintone could already be covered if Zos took the "Xoleel Scale" skin and offered differently colored version of it. The texture held up nicely in quality since it's release. Different version in light-blue, light-green, yellow, deep red and so on would build a significant contrast to the vanilla skin options while offering the player the opportunity to show off their idea of how argonians might have been shaped and colored by the hist in different parts of the black marsh.

Plus! - A few ingame NPCs seem to be using more saturated and brighter variants of vanilla scale patterns. One of these is a female argonian wandering passed the guild vendors in Skingrad.

    ON-skin-Xoleel_Scale_%28Argonian%29_02.jpg

    ON-skin-Xoleel_Scale_%28Argonian%29_03.jpg

    Idea 2:

Reworking the layering between scale/fur patterns and body markings would allow not only argonians, but also khajiit, to not wave their stripes and spotted scales goodbye in favor of showing of their newly aquired body markings.
Currently, and for the past 10 years, every player who selected a beast race had to decide between 1) Showing off body markings or 2) Recognizing their own character. - I believe it's been a rather big flaw in character creation and in terms of customization ever since the game came out and should be adressed.

@NotaDaedraWorshipper Yeah, their heads do look terrible. I don't know if they'd be able to change their base appearance that much though due to the npcs sharing the same look. There are also people that are fine with how they look and don't want them changed. Maybe they could release more Argonian subraces (in a future base-game update) for the people that aren't happy with their current appearance.

I know I'd like them to look more like their trailer counterparts or promotional artwork for Murkmire/Shadows of the Hist... I'd even take the Skyrim versions over what we have now. It'd also be really cool if they could resemble the Dragonborn from Baldur's Gate 3.

@NoticeMeArkay I also really like the skin textures they used for the Dead Water tribe. It would also be nice if they found a way for the Khajiit and Argonians to have cool tattoos on their bodies without sacrificing their markings and textures. You can use face paint/tattoos with no problems. But for some reason their markings and textures disappear on their bodies when you try to give them tattoos...
