Crafty Alfiq vs Necropotence

Arcadere

Both of these sets do the same thing, the only difference being Alfiq has 100% uptime...
I believe Necropotence might need a rework... Someone in zone mentioned you could stack the two for huge magicka... but... does anybody actually do that?

Well sorcs now have a passive that grants 10% magicka when no active pets. Using Necropotence is a net loss.

Even if you just want to stack magicka to the extreme you need to go crafty and then could consider filling with ancient grace or other magicka lines. Maybe Bright-Throat's Boast...

There were builds combining the two before the passive changes but you don't need two magicka sets anymore for decent pool.

Not sure about how they are now but as a Warden with bear I used to run Necropotence + Plague Doctor to solo. Crafty Alfiq added less Magicka overall but with the benefit of being permanent and not dependant on pets.
I never tried switching to Crafty Alfiq, but there were instances where my bear died 2 times in a row and I forgot to res it while in action; usually those times I died too but I don't think having the other set would have made a difference.

I then switched all my alts to Druid's Braid: lots of Magicka, Health AND stamina, which can be useful in places like Infinite Archive.
Sure not optimal if your aim is being a DD, but good for soloing.

Keep in mind there will be an event in upcoming months that will let us pay just 12 transmute crystals to reconstruct gear, so you'll easily be able to test out whatever sets you want at a very low cost! :)

for the benefit of those not remembering all the sets stats in game.

Also, somewhat unrelated, there are sets from diff alliance that give penetration benefits but just go by different names. So it's a thing that happens that sets very similar have same benefit and diff names.

As far as soloing goes, there are diff ways to solo and at diff levels. new players can benefit a lot form one of the aformentioned penetration sets or possibly vamps kiss that retores health. Then ofc there the awesome orders wrath that gives high crit. A high crit set and a high pen set make a great combo for new players. For more experienced players theres a ton more options byut OW is hard to beat for being 3 traits.

and for a little of everything there's new moon acolyte which if you wanted to use with a max magica set might prove useful for soloing

master summoner giving magicka/stamina without pet and health with pet is a strange distinction when there are many petless hp builds getting stamina/magicka and maxmagicka pet shield sorcs getting hp and necropotence exists and pets used to scale with magicka. Giving the 10%modifier to the higher of both would make more sense.
Necropotence should not be useless or reworked into a totally different set because of expert summoner. Alfiq+necropotence should become viable build again.
