The necro doesn't really play like other classes, once you understand the thing, it's not bad but it remains special
Would you please be able to elaborate on this a little? I played a necro ages ago, but it's been quite a while and I was thinking of spinning up a new one. Any insight, tips, thoughts, etc., would be very much appreciated!
It's not really possible to assess a class at level 15 IMO.
Necromancers can be a lot of fun and are currently in a very good place in PVE.
I can see why the corpse management minigame isn't for everyone, but I think that's fine because there are 7 classes and a common complaint in eso is a lack of class identify through homogenization.
Necro tanking is amazing fun. Though dk is probably my favorite class to play, I find tanking on necromancer much more interesting.
I think Necromancers are pretty fun in PvE, especially with the Class Set that can be acquired in the Infinite Archive.
If you haven't done so already, I'd recommend morphing Sacrificial Bones into Blighted Blastbones instead of Grave Lord's Sacrifice (even if you intend to build a Magicka Necromancer). Ideally you'd cast Blastbones every third skill, refreshing your DOTs or using a spammable in between. I personally find that less dull than the rotations some other classes have, but tastes differ of course.
The Necromancer class in ESO is a mess. The corpse “minigame” doesn’t provide meaningful options and is mostly a way to power stationary DoTs—not ideal when movement is a core combat mechanic. There have been dozens of posts on this class’s many issues, not the least of which is the bizarre and failed implementation of Sacrificial Bones/Grave Lord’s Sacrifice. Thank goodness they’ve been keeping an eye on this, per @ZOS_Kevin!
