Oh also also... up until about 2019/2020 I could not get anywhere near a large battle in Cyro, could not go near Alik'r dolmens and could not do a trial run without disconnecting multiple times. I was very glad when that got fixed.

I started playing in the Beta. I am still playing the same char, after 10 years, which is my main, and I have 2 alts.

Here is one of the oldest screenshots from November 2014, where my char is level 6.

I think the game has improved alot, but some systems saw much more development than others. I also believe that One Tamriel was a good thing, because being locked in a faction for too long meant not knowing a lot of cool people who picked other factions. Probably this was by design in the beginning, and they opened the game after they had enough players on each faction.

What kept me going for 10 years was the horizontal progression system, the fact that devs chose not to increase the level cap with each expansion/dlc. This was the case in WoW, and burned me out a lot, kept me away from doing new dungeons and stuff, because there were times when I just didn't have the time to invest in gearing up. In ESO, I can use the same raiding gear I got 5 years ago, and still do vet dungeons if I like. It might not be the meta, but it's fine for most things. This is great for returning players as well. I really hope the devs won't change that.

10 years ago we didn't have housing and all the nice collectibles. Housing is great, but it still needs a lot of polishing. Without housing I would have lost interest, after doing most of the content I cared about (like all the stories, overland, some pvp, dungeons etc).

I hope the devs will listen to feedback this year, since they show more interest in this like in the past. The game can be a success for a few more years until the engine becomes too dated.

Another one: Before writ recipes could be purchased from chefs and brewers, the Fishy Stick recipe was rare enough that folks bought and sold cooked Fishy Sticks in the guild traders.

And Tomatoes were the rare provisioning ingredient :D

It's way better now because I can actually play without dying repeatedly when doing overland quests, and I don't need to group for everything.

That's the problem and why the game isn't near as good today as it was 2016-2020 or so. 2014-2016 they fixed most of the issues that showed up during release and then we had 4-5 years of fantastic gaming with mostly good balance and awesome PvP and vet trials and trifectas and progression groups.

Overland was never any challenge except Craglorn before it was made solo friendly. ZOS went full on catering to casuals and killed the game for the vets with U35.

ESO is an MMO and should mandate grouping with other players far more than they do.

No, it shouldn't. We aren't obligated to group with others for things that should be soloable just because that is what some others want. Those that want to group can do so with others that choose the same playstyle, but no one is obligated to cater to anyone else's preferences.
