Lead: Psijic Portals in the Southern Elsweyr zone

Really. I've been scouring this zone for a while now...I've never even SEEN a Psijic Portal in this zone (and this during a non-busy time)...let alone the CHANCE of getting the lead if I actually DO see one. ZoS.....why do you hate your players so much? Sure killing bosses or farming materials you get SOME value out of it. But this....this is just constant running around and trying to avoid fights. It's not even remotely enjoyable or beneficial.

You'll be delighted to learn that this exact lead was in the Infinite Archive vendor two weeks ago... so don't expect it to return there in ages.
Back to southern elsweyr, it took me an entire Elsweyr event of psijic portal farming to get this lead ONCE !
Eh, at least you get mundane runes, aurbic embers and the occasional dragon, right ? :#

Heh...I'm not even really interested in the mythic. I got ESO+ for six months and thought I'd try and get all the leads there....might be fun to "try it out"...but forget that...not worth the wasted time.

You have to loot all runestones you can find so they might spawen into psijic portals later. Just running around and hoping to find psijic portals won't do it. And I speak out of experience. After some time, I had a route of approximately 20 runestones I farmed in a rotation and the 10th or 12th portal had the lead.

Thanks...that's what I'm doing....just looting all of them. Still haven't seen a single portal.

Yeah, this lead is the worst.

SElsweyr is such a small zone, and then there's even the fact that it's not guaranteed in a portal so you usually have to get a bunch of portals in order for one of them to finally drop the lead. I don't know why this one was never modified to drop from portals in both Elsweyr zones, or to at least increase the drop rate since the portals themselves are low enough RNG by themselves.

I dropped everything and ran to snap this one up from the Archive when it was buyable the other week.

I don't spend much time in S Elsweyr ever really. The only time I was there in the last 6 months (on PC EU, one of my newer accounts), I stumbled upon a Psijic portal, and there was the lead. That portal was about as far south of the Western Plains Wayshrine as it's possible to go - straight down the river , then southwest toward the ruins just above on the headland.

I dug it up but didn't/don't want the mythic anyway.... I would LOVE to be able to gift leads like that to those who really want/need them though!

I ran portal farming there when the lead came out. You want to find a loop of stones and cycle theough that. I got all three codex leads BEFORE they chamged how portals work. Now, if you run into one portal and loot it, your chances of spawning a second, third, etc. portal increase drastically, and now it's SUPER easy to chain farm portals it's rediculous. I ran into about 10-12 portals consecutively after the change I made a joke about them stalking me. XD

I can not tell you how happy I was when this lead appeared in IA. I spent over a year trying to get this lead the "intended" way, to the point I resigned myself to disappointment. Granted, I wasn't grinding in Southern Elsweyr every day, but this lead is RIDICULOUSLY hard to get. RNG (runestone or portal needs to populate) + RNG (portal over runestone) + RNG (portal with lead) = Utter frustration.

I did that boring farm for a while (on console with no addons to tell me where the nodes were) before someone suggested I wait until an upcoming event with double drops. I got the lead fairly quickly after that.

Funny how “double drops” will quickly give you a lead but normal drops will never happen.

Yea...I've already given up...pointless. ESO has never been a game to try and experiment with new gear...it's always a chore to try things like this. No big loss...I'm sure it would just end up in the pile of unused mythics I already have.

Sometimes you have to "plant" portals yourself. Since portals share the same spot of runestones, you establish a route, get all of them and when you start over you *may* find a portal, as long as nobody else got there first.

As a side note, if you think that this lead is hard, the one from Sunspire for the same Mythic, is much worse — had to buy it from Filler Ool >.<

I recommend you to choose "route" runestones and run this route over and over again. Eventually portals will start appearing.
My experience was that for the first codex entry I got this Lead after about an hour (maybe 2 or 3 portals), for the second codex entry it was an incredible pain, I farmed this one for a total of 2 days, the first day about 6 hours and the second day 4 hours and then I finally got it. And for 3 codex entry I bought it in IA where it was on offer quite recently.

Yeah, it's still RNG but if you're farming this Lead for the first time it shouldn't be hard to get it.
    So gl! :)

Every now and then a lead is added to the game and makes me think it was designed by the Jigsaw killer. This is one of those leads. OP has my sympathy.

Ok here is what I did. Others are correct, they do spawn at runestone spots. i have nine toons, I took each one to a known runestone spot and logged them out there. When I log in for the day i log each one in and check, if no portal I just go about my normal business. When I quit for the day rinse and repeat. After two days I got the lead, less hassle that way. PRIOR to that I spent a lot of time running around looting runestones and nothing. Save yourself the headache.

(I started doing this for many other leads also when possible).

In the center of the map there is a small area where 4 rune stones are with short sight of each other in a circle(ish) pattern. You can farm all four quickly, waiting for one to become a portal. It took me a little more than an hour to get the lead.

One hour, farming 12 of the same nodes in close proximity (ish), using specific speed farming gear: 1 portal, no lead.

I'm sometimes seriously disgusted with this game.

Yeah this one was horrible. I hate "chasing" leads like that. When this one was available in IA I made a public service by tellin people in some zone chats that day. They dm'ed me of how thankful they were.

I like more stationary lead farming. Now these im more and more inclined to wait for Filer Ool.

Well as luck would have it, using both methods above (leave your toons at the site and farm a small, manageable area), this finally dropped. Did that afternoon farming for an hour, logged back in tonight, and saw one portal and bam. It took 6 portals to get the lead. Small, but the amount of rune nodes I farmed or passed (as they were empty) to actually get a portal...I can't even count.

I'm not sure what the point is for these types of leads. Keep player engagement up? Goodness there's enough content to keep me playing for years without leads that literally just waste time...with practically nothing to show for it then a handful of rune mats. I'm not sure if the devs think that this is a challenge that people wanna over come or...something else? A challenge would be taking down 50 world bosses. But I'd do that then this any day. Tedium != challenge.

There's....like a process that works in my head...and I don't think or know if ZoS takes this type of process into account..it goes something like this:

Mild annoyance -> frustration -> disgust -> loathing -> quitting.

I've played a LOT of games...and once you get to a certain point...you're just done...not with the current obstacle, but the whole thing in general. I suspect a few more days of this particular lead..and I would have been close.

Good to hear you managed to get Lead.

Now if you're a codex hunter so you can farm again for 2 codex input (if you completely assembled and got Mythic then). This is where the pain really starts because getting Leads for 2 and 3 codex entries are always a pain (especially 2 entries).
