What does everyone think the best base-game questlines are? I'm not talking about DLC content, because that's always been held to a higher quality, but in terms of the base-game areas, which stories do you guys think are the best?

I'm still partial to the Wilderqueen questline in Greenshade. Exploring Aranais' background, seeing her past, what's going on around her... really great stuff.

I second that: the Greenshade main quests are one of my favourite zone main quests in the game.

Craglorn zone quest, solo, on a newer toon. It's not the easiest, will challenge some, and comes with a unique reward of a nirn item.

I like the one in Reaper's March involving the twin Khajiit sisters. It's part of the main quest for that zone, and I think it has a lot of depth to it.

Even though it's been a while since I did it and I can't remember all of the details, I quite liked Rivenspire's questline.

I honestly think a lot of the writing in the base game zones is some of the best ESO has to offer. Many of the characters get development across several zones, and your choices were more significant, granting greater immersion to your own roleplay. Discounting the quests with vastly popular characters like Razum-dar, some stories that stuck with me were:

Redguard culture and the political tension between the Crowns and Forebears in the Alik'r Desert questline was really interesting and well-written.

Aera Earth-Turner's character development. Not gonna spoil anything, but if you know, you know.

Stormhaven and Sir Hughes' Fate. More of the great political writing and some hard decisions here that made you think about the repercussions for you and the Covenant.

The Reaper's March questline where you assist the sisters Shazah and Khali. The feels man...

The dynamics between the Silvenar, the Green Lady, and the Bosmer people. This was perhaps the most intriguing exposé about the Bosmer to date. I feel like Bosmer in recent content are portrayed a bit comically like the Argonians, but back in the base game zones Bosmer were impressively terrifying when they wanted to be. Green Lady had a powerful presence.
