The problem I have with Tanlorin and Zerith-var

... Their rapport is completely unhinged.

For one, Tanlorin has a list of positive rapport events almost longer than any two of the other companions together -- and they are unique. And that in addition to the easiest major rapport pump, Alchemy daily writs for +125, kicking even Azandar off the top spot now. Moreover, picking the flowers gives +5 on cooldown, then +1 with NO COOLDOWN. Compare that to resource gathering on ANY other companion (e.g., Ember's +1/cooldown for rune nodes). I just got 2k worth rapport on one character just by farming alchemy mats.

On the other hand, not only Zerith-var's list is almost the shortest, not only he also has major overlap with other companions (mainly Ember and Sharp), but one of his big rapport sources is BOTH unique-per-account (not even per-character) AND on the cooldown -- unlocking antiquities codex entries.

Agreed. To me it seems that Tanlorin is one of the easiest companions to get to maximum rapport, while Zerith-var is one of the hardest companions to get to maximum rapport. But they are both at maximum rapport now, so all good.

Also, since I am not into online card games and don't play Tales of Tribute, the Complete any Tales of Tribute Daily Quest with Zerith-var was not fun. I ended up beating a novice NPC to finish that, while literally just doing what the hints said online in posts I found on this forum and in an online guide. My plan is to never play ToT again.

So for me zerith was pretty easy to reach max rapport. ToT daily, if you do all 3 matches and space them out is 155 rapport and the other daily. Drink purifying mara, farm water nodes... and the mobs he likes to kill are some of the more common.

Each companion should have an easy daily for Max rapport imo.
ToT is not something most players can master and since it's a completely different style of game to eso, it should never be forced on players.

Tanlorin and Azandar were both the easiest to get quick rapport with cos of alchemy and enchanting crafting daily.

IMO, each companion should have dailies from different/unique activities in the game.

And even though while I don't like PvP, I wouldn't mind if one had PvP rapport. But given that Companions and PvP are intentionally severed, that's obviously not going to happen. Nonetheless, I wouldn't mind it.

Heck, now that I think of it.. I think it'd be awesome if a future companion gave rapport if you give them a token/trinket/treasure that can only be found in a Trial reward coffer.

Bastian will be the longest max rapport grind until they give him a second daily quest he likes. It's been 3-4 years now, so I guess that ain't happening.

The only solution to that are Battleground Dailies, since those are the only PvP quests in PvE Zones.

Each companion should be unique. They aren't pet skins, they are characters. Zerith and Tanlorin are fine in their rapport sources.

Except he and Mirri don't have a cooldown on their guild quests (unlike the newer companions), so if you share quests with people who got other dailies you can potentially max their rapport in just two days.

I just took Tanlorin through the Dark Brotherhood (not out of any sort of maliciousness; that's just where I was when they were added to the game). I often use Eyevea as a teleport hub when going out on assassination quests, which they also don't like. Without going out of my way to do anything they like, I still have over 50% rapport with them.

Tanlorin is maybe just a little too forgiving.

I found Zerith's rapport okay - not particularly interesting, just grindy - by doing the Elsweyr defence dailies. Combined with some other stuff, it wasn't too bad.
Tanlorin is stupidly easy, but really, I don't mind.

ZOS just seems to not like Bastian for some reason. Only one daily option, he's inexplicably not in the final celebration quest of Blackwood, and his companion keepsake sucks/doesn't work.

For me the two new companions rapport maxed the quickest as they each have two daily +125's. Max Leveled Zerith in IA, now leveling Tanlorin.

I wish the leveling process was a bit quicker, but it is what it is.

    They fixed Bastian's companion keepsake.

Well, then it just sucks as a baseline then.

The main problem with Bastian's keepsake is, it can't be turned off and keeps spamming inventory with a lot of different stuff while doing normal activity. A few others add inventory spam, too, but it's more controllable.

So yeah, really need a way to deactivate those "add items" keepsakes if you don't want them.

Don't forget, EDF dailies need unlock, so if you're trying to raise Zerith's rapport on more than one character... It's even more grindy.
