Cannot travel to Blackwood

I'm trying to get to Blackwood, but when I recall to the wayshrine I just get a loading screen that eventually times out with "connection to server lost".

To add insult to injury, when I log back in it charges me the full 500 gold to try again - which also fails!
Travelling from a wayshrine also fails.
