Access Code Issues (Can't login)

I don't think it has anything to do with the game server outage the other day, as I was trying to log in before that and failing.

This issue isn't a "failing to log in" issue, this is a "failing to get an Access Code emailled" issue, which seems to have started on the 12th.

And they stopped reply on the tickets I had no more replies .

I just want to know if anything is being done or we are to few with this issue to even be noticed.

I have a few alt accounts that I almost never play. And play them even less because it happens regularly that they get the access code on login (after being dormant except for Free to Play events), and I don't get any email.

Yes, I know. I was trying to log in (and failing because it wouldn't send an Access Code). I already replied in the thread to that effect.

And they stopped reply on the tickets I had no more replies .

I got one today - it was just the cut-n-paste of the help wiki page, of course, but hey, it was a reply.

I also got a feedback email, so I wrote saying that when someone reports an outage with a service you run, the expected response is to respond about the status of that service, not with boilerplate troubleshooting instructions.

I have, however, found a workaround, though it's unlikely to work for almost anyone.

As I reported in my ticket (241215-004375):
Possibly useful information: buying the game a second time, this time on Steam, then downloading and signing into it THROUGH Steam, gets around the need for an "Access Code". This workaround is unlikely to work for many, as they are unlikely to want to pay for the game a second time, but I thought it might be worth letting you know that this workaround exists, and seems to work.

The server for sending out Access Codes is still nonfunctional, and this issue is not closed.

However, you might now want to close this ticket as a duplicate.

This only worked for me, because I happened to have bought but never installed a Steam copy of the game when it was on special a few years back. ESO is $20 in Steam right now, which is likely not feasible in the thin period approaching Christmas for many of the players affected.

Anyone having trouble accessing the game on PC (Not Steam) due to access codes not being received? Wondering if there's an activation system issue.

I have a few PC accounts and am unable to get the emails for the access codes on any account. I know the emails work, are correct and can access my account via the web. The emails aren't being sent to spam or being blocked.

I was having this exact problem on one of my accounts. That account was using Yahoo Mail. I switched to Outlook and got the code right away.

It appears, at least for me, that they have fixed the issue with authentication emails. I was able to change my email back to the original I use from the iCloud address that support wanted to try. I have not tried the access code for the game as I won't be near that PC for a few days and can't login.

If the email works for the web account, I have confidence that it will work for the game.

In an odd twist, it appears that the authentication for the forums doesn't work now. I tried the password recovery for the forum and never received an email at the address in my profile. Since I don't need to recover and/or change my password at this time, I'm not going to open a ticket.

Thanks for the update, @Ardaghion, I’ve just tested and it’s working for me again too. Going to put it down to lingering weirdness related to last week’s outage.

    Confirmed.
Works for me now, without even changing email.
Also, the changing email in the profile page appears to work too now.

I was able to get the access code for the game and login earlier this morning.

I just got a reply from support asking me to test it. It also came with a code for Gold Road with pre-order bonuses. Now I'm wishing I put in a ticket for each of my other 9 alt accounts. :D

Edit: from the last Support reply I don't think support knew what the cause was, it may have been the specialized team that took care of it. I am a little bit disappointed we didn't hear from a CM about this issue, there were quite a few people here and some on Reddit having the same issue.

Not a big deal for me, with the server outage and the access code issue, I lost out on 6 days of daily rewards and all but 2 days of ESO+ trial not to mention being unable to use the game all that time. First world problems I guess

Just wanted to follow up here. Took awhile to confirm, but the issue with access codes should be resolved, as some of you have mentioned. Thanks again for highlighting the issue with us.
