Stuck in Infinite Archive

The first stage worked normally. I killed all enemies in the second stage, but no portal to the next stage appeared, leaving no way to advance. I was not allowed to fast travel out of the archive or quit the game, as the game said I still was in combat. I finally had to force quit.
