PC NA Players: Bad Performance and Geography?

I'm curious how much of the bad performance is related to distance and connections. I remember being told by a guildie that the upgrade/changes that were meant to optimise US performance made things worse for players outside of the USA.

Actually, I don't have any performance issues at all. Caveat: I don't pvp or do group content.

I don’t PvP anymore but everything else I do game works fine. I just upgraded my PC tho so that might have a little to do with it.

I have the occasional lag spike, usually in dungeons, but otherwise I don't experience many problems. I also don't PvP. Having said that, the last time I was booted from the game was in a delve in Cyrodiil.

The only time I run into issues is during events and even then it's usually not too bad. Cyrodiil is another story, but I don't spend much time in there.

I wasn't too sure what to vote, because I'm in Europe but I play on US NA server. My game works very good.

I'm in western Canada, and my game is fine most of the time. When I have problems other people are also often having issues at the same time (like mass lag or disconnects happen).

Same here, in the UK and play on US NA server, whilst I don't PVP or do group content, everything runs ok and very rarely run into any lag

I live in the UK and play on both PC EU and NA servers. I don't PvP or do group content (other than dungeons, delves, dolmens and world bosses etc which I do both in a grouped duo - with companions - and ungrouped with multiple players), and have never experienced any significant performance issues on either server since launch. I'm not in any guilds and don't use any addons. While the ping etc doubtless differs between the servers, I have no reason to check it as from a practical playing point of view there is no noticeable difference between the servers.

New Zealand to USA servers. Game performance has deteriorated since I started playing in 2016. Ping used to be ~220ms, now it's closer to 260ms or higher. Around 2020, it hovered closer to 350-400ms for about 2 years so I stopped playing as it was just awful.

Ping improved after Covid so I started playing again and while it is not as good as it was, it is still playable.

Having never played with sub 100ms ping, I can't say if 250ms ping is bad or not as that is subjective.

I live in the Asia Pacific region and performance is bad.
Also New Zealand, with a 210-220 ping, which is the best it has been in years. It was really bad a few years ago, and the desync is always somewhat present. It's hard to make comparisons given how little technical knowledge I have, but ESO's performance *feels* worse to me than an other game with US servers that I've played. My machine is up to spec, and I don't think it's the issue. My wifi is fine for other online gaming activities.

The distance from servers is obviously a big issue. It just seems suspiciously like it's not the only issue, cos nothing else works quite this badly.

I've noticed the same regarding other games: I play Guild Wars 2 on a US server. The is lag is obvious, particularly when playing with US players who routinely manage to kill enemies before I can get to them. However, the difference is that the lag is fairly stable which makes it a lot easier to adapt to.

Nope. I live in the US Southwest, at around 7k feet on a 12k foot mountain. The only viable internet in my tiny little town is satellite.

Still, my game works fine, because I don't do the stuff that requires grouping or has a lot of people all in one place.
