Hello forum friends:Anyone else experiencing event burnout?

I know yes, I can refrain from participating in these events BUT if I do that, I will miss out on tickets and style pages and furnishing recipes etc.

I personally would like a more extended gap between events. I'm not here to whine for the sake of whining. I hit burnout from these last few events being so close together.

If you read this thank you. Please be kind with your comments...I'm not trying to be negative, I genuinely need a break from events...I want to work on zone clears on my alts.

You’re not alone, I’m sure you’ll have the same bots that plague this forum telling you that events are optional, and that cosmetics are not important… but this is an RPG.

Putting unique cosmetics behind these rapid fire events forced you to play the game the way our community managers have planned, instead of the way we want.

Now for why cosmetics are essential in ESO…

Cosmetics are the entirety of roleplay, they establish your identity and set you apart within the world. Having FOMO as your marketing tactic, and then vaulting the few earnable rewards available for half a decade does nothing but coerce your community to participate.

No, because I only bother to do a two or three a year. Otherwise, it would be endless and with little in the way of rewards that I would be interested in.

I make it a point to only grind out the event content for the first half of each event. By then I've acquired everything the event can offer that I didn't already have. Then for the remainder of the event I just do the bare minimum to keep my event tickets capped at 10 and resupply my stock of group repair kits while doing so.

It doesn't take long to get all the style pages, be it through coffer drops or guildmates handing them out like candy. And in the event one or two may not have found their way into my lap naturally, they are so dirt cheap on the traders by the time the event is over that it's trivial to complete the set.

I enjoy the calmness throughout the rest of Tamriel while the event zones are jam packed.

I love events and don't understand burnout, but I guess I am just a forum bot that can't have a different opinion. I do the daily zones in High Isle and Galen for both accounts and then I'm done with the event for the day. I have all the style pages for both accounts, and I will finish with 12/12 event tickets for the next event. I can't wait for New Life next.

I'm not really burnt out on this one, but my time is at a premium at this time of year, so on my newest account both PC servers I just bought the last tickets to get the snow indrik pet, leaving only 2 feathers needed in New Life to make the nascent indrik to morph into the snow indrik mount.

no, i love events.
maybe i don't get burnout, because i most days only do 1 daily quest.

i like the Style Pages and Furnishing Plans, but the Guild Banks get them too and Guild Stores sell them at low prices as well.

For me events are awesome, because there's extra stuff to do for a little while, if i want to do it.
Unless i want more than event tickets, i only need to spend a few minutes a day on the event.

No, because I do the bare minimum required to get the event tickets and then I move on to game activities that I enjoy doing. If I don't drop the pages, then I'll use tickets to buy them or get them from traders, but I honestly don't sweat not getting everything except the fragments for the companion house. People usually say 'but what about collectors, and what about cosmetics for RP, etc.', but honestly, it's a choice and a frame of mind... we have so many outfit styles, that I don't think missing a mace is that much of a deal to an RPer, and as far as completionists go, I think sometimes it's a complusion that's taking away from game enjoyment, because playing shouldn't feel like a second job. Years ago, before the AwA system, I made the conscious decision to stop worrying which toon I gathered achieves on, because I loved playing on multiple alts, and even if it meant having achievement points scattered all around, and not completing the categories, I chose to do what made the game more fun for me. I think if you are experiencing burn-out with things that you feel forced to do, then working on the compulsion, and consciously making the choice to move away from them, will help with finding joy in the game again, even when events are going on.

I'd like events to be something more than "double resources and a special box", Witches Festival was a good start. Replaying the same events over and over with just different bound style drop is tiring.

I'm not particularly bothered about having literally everything possible. So I don't really care about the current event's style pages, nor anything currently purchasable by Event Tickets.

So I have the freedom to do what I want. Which currently does involve doing event activities because getting a bunch of loot and WB/Vent completed for a zone that is normally pretty quiet is pretty good. With me hoping for an event in other zones I'm missing WB/Incursion completions for (As well as Overland gear for my stickerbook).

Meanwhile, something like that Undaunted event not too long ago... I wasn't interested in it at all and just did a daily dungeon for event tickets to work towards the Coldharbor Welwa mount and continued doing my own thing the rest of the time. If I wasn't interested in the mount, I'd have passed by the event completely.

Yeah. I think this is a big part of it. Also how bad the drops are the rest of the year makes double drops feel like the best time to get whatever you want from the zone. So, it feels like something you want to actually grind. But, grind easily leads to burnout.

Not really, this one was refreshing to have open world and dungeons involved. I completed five motif styles I had slowly been filling too.

It is a game to me. if I don't want to or enjoy something, I don't do it.

I don't usually get "event burn-out," but it does depend on how much time I'm spending on the events.

Most events have at least one easy way to earn daily tickets, and if I don't want to devote a lot of playtime on an event then I'll just do the bare minimum needed to earn tickets. For instance, in events like the current one-- where you get tickets by doing a zone's daily quest-- you can just do the daily delve quest, which doesn't usually take long.

And the current event awards tickets for doing a Tales of Tribute daily quest, which is something I do each day regardless of whether or not there's an event going on, so that gives me a nice way to do the bare minimum if I want to, without altering my daily in-game routine at all.

But in this case I'm doing all of the dailies in both event zones, since they give double the usual reward coffers and it's a nice way to get the zones' crafting motif pages. The event coffers are also nice, because they have frequently been dropping leads for the zones' antiquities, such as for the Ancestral Breton crafting motif pages, as well as dropping treasure maps.

In cases like this, where I do choose to spend more time on the event's activities, the end of the event does tend to feel like a blessed relief when it finally comes. But even for events like this one, I can always just back off and return to doing the bare minimum each day if the event starts to wear on me.

I agree with you, but it's not going to happen.

I am content to miss out on whatever styles are being offered, knowing I can probably buy whatever I might actually want to use later.

I complete one vent quest each day for the event tickets and log off.

It's actually pretty low stress. The new life festival will be a little more annoying but maybe I won't even care about the event tickets by then.

I used to suffer from event and general mmo burnout, but then I just put things into perspective. I don't really need or want most of the drops. They don't factor into my core eso experience very much. Plus I already have enough gold wealth to buy whatever I would need, which is nothing.

The game throws such an overwhelming amount of loot at me, it actually feels good to turn off the tap.. Letting go and enjoying eso as the super casual low stress game it actually is feels great.

Burned out and busy with other stuff. The upshot is I’m throwing my newbie Arcanist at the Vent and WB dailies and he’s gotten a decent amount of XP without getting steamrolled, but I can’t bring myself to grind this more than that.

Not I. I've been playing a lil bit these days and have completely ignored the events. I don't care about cosmetics, I'm not in a guild so I can't sell anything anyway, and there hasn't been one event since I started playing (2016) where I came away feeling like any of the time put into it was worth it. Ignoring them makes this more like a game again, instead of like a job/chore.

I try to collect all of the outfit style pages if I can, but I’m not going to stress out if I can’t get them all, because I almost never use the outfit system (but feel like I eventually will).

Crafting motifs are of greater interest to me, since they can help with doing master writs.

But the main thing is to decide which rewards you care about, don’t fret about the rest, and have the strength to not get “manipulated” into spending more time on an event than you really want to.

Note that I put “manipulated” in quotes. I do not think ZOS is trying to manipulate players into spending time on the events. I think they are just trying to give players fun things to do in the game, or give them extra rewards for doing things that most players are going to be doing anyway. If players feel pressured to participate in a limited-time event and grind for the maximum amount of rewards each day, that is really on the player in my opinion.

It’s actually kind of ironic that players think there are too many events, non-stop all year long, yet at the same time players think the “limited-time” nature of events and rewards creates FOMO.

It’s also worth mentioning that ZOS has been making changes based on player feedback.

When these events (that award tickets) were first introduced, there were four events per quarter. After players complained about the number of events all year, they were cut back to three events per quarter. There is some amount of fluctuation, but in general those numbers are accurate.

When players complained about the event rewards— such as the never-ending parade of indriks and the lack of variety— the indriks were retired and additional rewards such as furnishings we could buy with tickets were added to the offerings.

And when players complained about certain events always having the same quests year after year, ZOS began introducing some new quests during those events.

So by all means, give feedback about these events and their rewards. But don’t forget that you are in control of you, and you need not feel pressured into participating in these events if they aren’t your cup of tea.

I also don’t want to discourage events and then NLF or something gets shortened when its length is needed.

I find them to be a good money-booster for me, because I'm constantly buying motifs.

Doing these dailies now is great because I get a ton of scripts to sell.

Not at all just do the bare minimum and that’s it . At least the game fells a little bit more alive during these events and give me something to do . Outside of events mostly I don’t bother at all to login. Just not much left to do in the game , so they are welcome

I think the best thing I ever did was tell myself that I couldn't do all the events and ignore the FOMO. There were a few events that I chose to engage fully into because I enjoyed the activity (e.g. Whitestrakes Mayhem, Undaunted Event) or needed to farm gear (Dread Sail Reef) while the rest I just dipped into to do the daily tickets.

I treat the Events like sales on department stores: there is always a sale going on somewhere.

I don't grind for style pages or event boxes. I do whatever's required to get my daily allotment of event tickets and that's it. Literally takes 5 minutes a day for most events. Then I move on and do what I want to do.

Having said that, I think there are too many events. They lose their specialness if there's one every three weeks, which is what it feels like.

I've had event fatigue for awhile now. It's constant non-stop back-to-back and they no longer feel special or fun. I just ignore most of them now.

I scaled back on this event. I realized the voice acting and other noise at the vents repeatedly was just too much and way too much repetition. I also don’t get obsessive with New Life. The last few years “the carrot” has been so lame, just got my tickets and stayed away.

Since I fill my stickerbook for the chapters well before these events happen, I have no need for grinding to get gear during this event. I do one daily, get my tickets, and then I can go do something more fun for me. The style pages are cheap enough to buy if I don’t get them and I sell my duplicates for a low price just to get some gold back.

I have been trying to farm mats as much as I can there for the double drops to refill my housing mat supply, so that’s good. I’m just getting a little burned out on doing that because it can get very boring.

I did finally find some ndsr group finder groups today, but boy is it rough having the group run that while ignoring mechs, like the domes on the twins especially.

ESO definitely needs something more than the double drops + loot box approach to the events. They should look at other MMOs and take notes.
