Basic problem of companion

Real tank player with companion= good.

DD or Healer with companion= It just doesn't work.

Please fix this.
My playing time Mon-Friday UTC13:00-16:00 [PC-NA] CP over2000 now.
I have [1Tough tank] [1StamSorc-DD] [1Necro-DD] [1Real Healer]
with [1Stam Blade].
But, I'm Tank main player. Recently I'm doing Healer.

How do you come to that conclusion?

My DD and Healer toons get a LOT of positive use out of companions. I keep 1 each Tank/DD/Healer companion on my Quickwheel, and use the proper companion in the proper circumstance. Azandar makes a great Tank for DD characters.

Because every companion is fake tank compared with my real tank.
So I always use companion only in my tank character as damage support.

    But...mostly useless.

DD or Healer with companion= It just doesn't work.

It sounds very surprising for me.
I usually run WB or group dungeon as DD with tanking or healing companion.
I switch them depending on the char and boss.

Advantage with companion is often good enough that I spend time to res them, if they died.
Also some world bosses stop being "no mistake allowed" guys for my weak DD alts, if I use companion healer or tank.

Maybe you just expect performance of average player from a companion? Then yes, it won't work.
You should literally program the companion's behaviour with a weapon and sequence of skills to get what you want.

I would't say that it just doesn't work. It is what you'd expect out of companions. They are not supposed to replace real players. So judging them by the same standards as we'd judge a real player Tank, for example, seems wrong.

I have voiced my own thoughts about the companion system back in February, if you are interested.
If anyone here says: OH! But, PVP! I swear I'll ...

Thank you for the valuable input and respectfully recommend to discuss that aspect of ESO on the PVP forum.

Companions can tank very well if you build them correctly. My Azandar companion is nigh unkillable in all but the most challenging content. My DD characters have a much easier go of it when Azandar just holds aggro and gets wailed on indefinitely while I plink off the enemies at leisure.

By your same logic, you could argue that any companion is a fake dps compared to your real dps. Yet you have no issue with them being a dd companion. After all, the biggest use I get out of dps companions is that they take care of the trash mobs that trail behind me while I'm sprinting through a delve for a daily quest.

There are enemies that my companion makes much easier, certainly. Gothmau immediately comes to mind

Host some trials and get 11 companions that are far more entertaining.

I use companions as tanks. They keep the boss' attention allowing me to focus on rotation instead of avoiding damage. The price to make it work is the ability to heal the companion when needed. So, from my perspective, tank companion works well with a healer who can do a bit of dps or a dd who can do a bit of healing.

That said, I've found that a tank character with a dd companion also works. I just don't enjoy it as much.

TLDR: Companions don't really limit your options as long as you build them and your character to complement each other.

This whole statement is meaningless without mentioning what sort of situation you're talking about. When soloing a dungeon for instance your character has to pretty much perform all three roles at once anyway. You have to set up your companions in such a way that they supplement your character, making them solely responsible for one role is a recipe for disappointment.

You will probably get better help if you describe what kind of content you want to build your Companion for and what kind build your PC are using.

In IA tank companion is almost unkillable. mine only dies when it stands in arc boss's AOE too long and even then i can sometimes heal it out of it. Two taunts, two heals, and a shield.

Better companion performance for things like world bosses would be a good starter. Currently I only have the two original companions on my main, which is a dual wield/staff Nightblade. I have Bastiaan pretty much all unlocked, and working on getting up to unlocking Mirri's ultimate (should be close).

Agreed. DPS and healing companions always die within seconds. For this reason I make all my companions into tanks.

Tank companion + dps player works best. But I guess tank player + dps companion works just as well, as long as the companion does not get aggro(though companion will do lower dps than a player would).

    This!
I'm a DD and my companion is a tank, almost every WB can tank. Of course for some I have to help him sometimes (I play pet sorc, heal from Marriarch is a lot of help), and some I can be afk and the companion is still ok.
But there are some that don't stand a chance even with my help, Nightmare Den, Centurion's Rise etc come to mind but otherwise the companion can be a very solid tank.
