Marauder Gothmau is bugged with companions

It would be nice if they would fix the companion targeting issue with Marauder Gothmau. My companion can tank all of the other marauders but just derp out and don't help me with that one. Unsure of the issue but it is very annoying as that is the hardest marauder and the whole reason I used the companion was to take some pressure off for that fight.

Others have mentioned running into the same issue, could the ZoS team gives us a update on this. Is this being addressed or even known about? It has been like this for months now. Pls, Thx. @ZOS_Icy @ZOS_Bill @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_KaiSchober @ZOS_Adrikoth @ZOS_RichLambert @ZOS_Kevin @ZOS_Finn

    Yeah I had this yesterday again, ran around the arena commanding Bastian to target Gothmau, and Bastian just stood there picking his nose. 😅

    He will sometimes taunt them but it does seem kinda hit and miss with the Marauders, that one especially.

    With my tankier dps like my Sorc, it doesn't matter so much but I want to run IA Arc1-3 runs on my squishier setups. If I use a lightning staff to heavy attack the Marauder I seem to be able to do all of them pretty well for the most part except Gothmau. Bastian does absolutely nothing, just sits there in combat contemplating his life decisions I guess. Every once and awhile the wolf boss will turn and slap me on occasion and kill me if caught off guard but at least the companion is taunting and engaging.

    If they would allow us to turn rapport off on alts we don't want to get stuck on the quest with, or allow us to interact with the inventory of the companions while on quest updates... it would be less of an issue for me.

    It's an issue with the taunts available through the sword and board and Ice Staff weapons and Undaunted taunt, I suspect. This is not the only fight it happens either, although I can't think of others of the top of my head.

    Azandar has a class skill taunt (Scathing Rune) that works just fine on Gothmau, so I use that one instead while in archive. But I dislike doing so as I previously had him setup as a healer, and imo, that role suits him better. He's not a young man anymore!

    I'm unsure if Bastian's chain taunt would work better. I got tired of finding myself fighting with his taunt but maybe I should swap it out at some point.

    This needs to be fixed asap, happens to me too. The companion engages him, then stops doing anything.

    This happens on both new and old companions. Sharp and zerith-var are 100% doing this.

    Nightmare Den in Necrom and other world bosses also completely ignore companion taunts.

    So far only Azandar is the only one that keeps the taunt. Tried Zerith var yesterday with this marauder and he does taunt him from time to time (enough that I could finish him, but it did take a lot of running in rounds untill he got the taunt again.
    So far Isobel really is useless with the marauders, she never lands a taunt with them.

    I haven't tried the new companions, as they are low level and I haven't even leveled up a tank setup or all the guild skill lines for them yet. Perhaps Zerith's bone armor is trying to pull enough that he gets a little aggro.

    It is disappointing that this has gone on for so long and hasn't been fixed, which is why I had hoped to get some status update on this as to why it wasn't hotfixed months ago. The new BG bugs got pretty quick action.

    Also doesn't help when Gothmau is the marauder that hits the hardest by far, had a few deaths due to the companions bugging out already. Annoying.

    I think there may be some dungeon bosses that tanks can aggro but companions can't too. They really need to fix companion taunt especially with Gothmau, since we have limited lives in Infinite Archive.

    The whole point of bringing in a companion is to make things slightly easier by letting them take aggro. You basically give up having a chance to leaderboard by bringing them as you probably won't go as far as two people and will perform more closely to how a solo person performs, but companions (rightfully) aren't eligible for the solo leaderboard. So, the reason to bring them in should consistently work. And having them tank is a big reason to use them.

    Maybe they are away for the holiday, but I had hoped for an update to this. This has been a bug for quite a long time and I haven't heard any mention of a hot fix.

    It may be something related with the ''Ruinach'' type of enemies, I remember Companion taunt also having issues with Magma Incarnate in the Dread Cellar dungeon. There is also another Ruinach boss that you can encounter in IA, one that spawns Oblivion portals, but I can't remember the name or if it also had issues with Companion taunt.

    Another boss that also ignores Companion taunt is Baron Zaudrus, both in IA and The Cauldron dungeon, but this one is not a Ruinach. Also Aramril.

    Yes, Baron Zaudrus is so annoying, he completely ignores companions, you could slot 3 taunts on Azandar (1h&shield skill, undaunted skill and class specific taunt) and it still wont even acknowledge him, just go straight for you, both in IA and The Cauldron dungeon.

    Also a lot of time on above mentioned bosses the companion just keeps going in and out of combat resulting in them not doing really anything besides standing in place and respawning over and over again.

    I wouldn't be surprised if there are other encounters outside of the Archive that do this as well. I just tend to use them the most in there farming sets and fortunes. The lack of response doesn't bode well for ever having fully functional companion systems anytime soon though. :|

    I discovered this issue yesterday but I have to say it is not "consistent" as a bug - I encountered Gothmau many times recently and Isobel tanked him without problems; just yesterday she decided to not taunt him. So it's not something happening 100% of the time, at least for me.

    azander works better with this because he has a ranged taunt by default that works more reliably than an ice staff taunt

    the companion ice staff taunt has always been a bit sketchy if it works or not

    they really really need to reduce the cooldown on the undaunted taunt so every companion has the option of a ranged taunt, just increase the synergy cooldown if that really matters

    I use sword and shield on Bastian, and he tanks all of the other Marauders just fine. So it seems more like a targeting issue. I think it also happened with Telvanni Efficiency set in use which should eliminate any cooldown issue.

    It seems like only a few taunts can effectively or somewhat effectively aggro him like Zerith-var's bone armor skill which tries to pull, and for whatever reason Azandar's arcanist taunt skill works (I haven't tested it as I don't use Azandar to tank). I use Bastian and Isobel, though eventually I may use Zerith-var. I have seen Bastian briefly get aggro if I am kiting around trying to survive for 2 mins or so but it doesn't hold like most marauders. He doesn't even light attack it, he just sits there looking like he is in combat but doing nothing 90% of the time.

    Yeah,sometimes it’s a companion skill cool down issue. So I find I have to kite the marauder while targeting Azandar on him until his taunt is back. If I can survive that the fight is won.

    Yes, there is something about this particular Marauder. I still haven’t got the achievement for him. Bastian tanked one of the new ones admirably for me, of course it was immediately as the level started with a full complement of other adds, and I was able to focus the adds as they spawned in from all three waves, and then focus the marauder as Bastian kept tanking him. It was awesome.

    Gothmau though, he makes a straight beeline for me and before I can barswap and get my shield ulti up I am instantly dead.

    Hmm, that is something to consider. I just waited too long to get my shield up in my case. In my defense the whole thing only lasted about 3 seconds.

    I did a tad bit more testing, which wasn't very optional. I had Gothmau spawn on me again, this time on the Necro healer I had respec'd to a heavy attack setup to farm the last of the Corpseburster set I want to play with. My typical strat is to kill the Fabled which usually triggers the Marauder shortly after. I killed all but one or two ranged adds if possible.

    I ended up killing all of the adds and kited a little bit during the break and Bastian did seem to grab aggro for a short bit (this is a heavy attack build which should have no issue with pet/companion focusing your target. After the next add wave spawned he just totally ignored the main target again. I think I did end up being able to kill him on the Necro for whatever reason a little bit tankier than my Templar and Arcanist. Perhaps it was just luck or RNG.

    I split Azandar's gear 6 Vigorous / 6 Quickened. and the cooldown is short enough for comfort IMHO. I usually roll dodge once or twice by default anyway when Gothmau comes chargin up on me, and by that time Azandar's taunt is usually up.

    Isobel drops out of combat with Gothmau constantly and 100% of the time. Just sheaths her sword mid-fight and runs over to me.
