Merciless Resolve stacks don't expire

Merciless stacks don't expire which means you can sit on them indefinitely and frontload a ton of damage from stealth.

This should not be allowed.

Example

Heavy Attack +

= 35k+ damage in 1 second from stealth

Isn't (or perhaps wasn't) the whole point of Grim Focus to *build* against an individual target by landing attacks?

Did they just forget the individual target part?

This was an intentional change a while back, and considering how nerfed into the ground nb is about to be, its fine.

If they need to buff NB in Update 45 in a few months, that's fine. But you shouldn't be able to sit on Merciless stacks like this.

Then sorcs shouldn't be able to perma shield and lol their way to town, or dks shouldn't be able to be as lanky as they are, there are far more pressing issues than 300 weapon damage.

You sit on the stacks to buff crit. Even if they expired attacking bring them right back.

Not to mention they Did this intentionally way back to compensate for the pretty major healing nerf NBS got. Now the stealth aspect will also be nerfed, so damage is really our only tool. Without damage we might as well just uninstall the game.

If you're getting hit that hard you should probably work on your build a bit more.

I've very aware of mitigation options and how damage is calculated in this game. I run fairly tanky. 13k merciless is below average for a player that sits in stealth and is built for full damage. Thanks for your feedback though

CMX timings are off. Here's what they did.

    0s: Heavy Attack
    0s: Merciless
    1s: Light Attack
    1s: Silver Shards

This would have been fine if the Merciless stacks were generated in the current fight. That way I can expect a bow proc and avoid it or prepare for it by keeping a shield up. There was no way to expect the damage because I didn't know they were nearby in stealth and the bow animation wasn't even visible.

Basically I was fighting someone in a field and a NB was sitting there waiting to cast a 5 stack Merciless.

    The stacks should expire.

If ZOS won't fix this then Crystal Weapon, Crystal Fragment's proc, and Bound Armament stacks should also never expire.

Yeah lets just buff the most broken class in the game. Get back to me when sorcs healing, shields, and mobility are nerfed. Then you can front load. Until then, sorcs have a functioning arsenal that is WAY overtuned. NBs have damage after this coming update, thats it.

You should always expect a stealth attack in pvp. Always. Unless you are with a group, you should be pre buffed the majority of the time.

That's not the point of what he's saying.

He's saying that the NB should have to visibly engage a bit to build the stack for Merciless, so it's something he can counter.

Frankly, I agree. The fact it never expires seems very against the concept of the Grim Focus.

When NB gets even a fraction of the kit that the over performing classes have, I'd agree. Until then., absolutely not. Far more pressing matters are at hand. NB is about hitting hard and fast. Not slow and tedious.
