I'm so pumped for Golden Pursuits!

This is a system that I am beyond pumped for. Having a variety of activities that culminate in a tangible award that can be achieved by a majority of the playerbase is fantastic and what the game has largely been missing. I hope that they expand on it quite a bit in the future!

I only see ONE downside to the entire system - and I'm not quite sure why they went this route. This quote is from the article recently posted in their news section:
https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/news/post/66867

"“Unlike many of the systems in ESO, Golden Pursuits don't operate on a regular daily or weekly cadence. There may be anywhere from days, to weeks, to months in between them, and Golden Pursuits will vary in length when they are live. They're meant to be exciting, spontaneous events. But don't worry, they're pretty difficult to miss: Golden Pursuits will always appear on the Announcement Panel and in the Group and Activity Finder when they're active.”

----

Why not have these active continually? For instance, if the first pursuit campaign last 2 weeks, why not have the next one start right after that? We need actual rewards in game. Daily rewards and seals of endeavor are not the same thing as this. Daily rewards are tiny little things that reward you for logging in with a few big items. Thats great! But they're not tied to gameplay, they just reward you for logging in. Seals of endeavor are cool, but the rewards take unbelievably long to obtain, so I've never actively really bothered with it. 6-8 months for 1 radiant apex is absurd to me. This is finally a realistic system for cool rewards tied to in game varied activities and should be praised and applauded, just not sure why there can be, as stated above, "...months in between them."

Really bummed by that :/

i know I've seen people say they want more spontaneous events and for them to feel special so this might be an answer to those requests.

i do love it even with it not being weekly or even monthly.

on pts the 2 Golden Pursuits campaigns i saw gave away 5 crates each and a mount/costume at the end.
The last campaign i saw on pts also had 60k gold

That looks to be exactly the same thing as daily endeavors, just with higher values to gain completion. So what's new with this system again?

I have mixed feelings. I just have this thought inside of my head that it will be fine at 1st, but then it will be another feature exploiting fomo... I mean the game has a motto of "play as you want", but this current endeavour system & now this it just seem like it is slowly becoming: "play as you want, buuuut...."

Well the rewards associated with the campaigns are more tangible, achieveable on a time-basis, and varied in options. I've seen campaigns require 12 tasks to be done for the capstone reward with 16 tasks available. So more tasks, but overall an improved structure to endeavors in my opinion.

You can knock out all 12 activities in 1 sitting if you want for instance and get that capstone reward that day where with endeavors its a very, VERY slow drip. Especially for a radiant apex mount (6-8 months)

I love the system, just wish there would be a max of a week or 2 between them. But months? Really? Whats the point of that? :/

The best thing imo would be to give more tangible rewards tied to everyday achievements. Putting things like costumes, motifs, hairstyles, mounts, etc. behind more everyday achievements rather than trifecta trials is sorely needed. This is a big improvement on the endeavors system, but it's not perfect. Excited regardless

The rewards aren’t bad or anything, but this sort of thing is conflicting for me.

I want to log in and just run some Battlegrounds, or Dungeons, or play through Quests, and then log off for the day. I feel like I’m missing out on a ton of stuff if I’m not doing these things which have such obviously enormous payout once per day. There are just SO many daily sources of things to collect now:
    • Most valuable Coffer-based rewards are limited to one per day per type of coffer. You can earn multiple each day, but must log daily to open them for their big rewards
    • Hirelings can be earned on all characters, but you must individually log to each character to collect mats each day
    • Seals of Endeavor directly incentivize daily/weekly completion of random tasks you might not have planned to do
    • Golden pursuits are pretty much the same thing as Seals of Endeavor except maybe better rewards
    • Not even going to discuss the huge time investment of Daily Writs for players who still do those

Also I’d like for my Gold, Materials, Cosmetics, and everything else to come from their correct sources instead of random stuff. A good example is Dragon Rheum: I killed hundreds of dragons in the Elsweyr zones to get not even a stack of Rheum over the time I’ve played ESO, and yet have earned nearly 1K Dragon Rheum from anniversary event boxes? I’d much rather Dragons just drop far larger quantities of the material.

I’m glad for people that like this sort of thing and are excited for next patch. Most likely I’m just not the target audience here, I value my time too much and would much rather do fun things/actual content when I log to earn enormous value for myself, instead of a daily assortment of farming tasks before playing the actual game.

I can definitely agree with this. I've largely stopped doing a lot of the daily stuff for this very reason, but this feature for whatever reason is much more attractive to me because they give you a set amount of time to do it and it's not something you have to do daily. Just there for a couple weeks and you can knock it out in a day and then forget about it until the next campaign. I just like having cool goals in my MMOs and this is along those lines, though i'd much rather have more rewards tied to achievements (not necessarily the insane achievements, but the regular ones too). I dont need a mount for every achievement, but tying motif pages, mounts, costumes, etc to achievements rather than swiping a card is what i've always wanted personally

I think it'll be fine for there to be months in between Pursuits tbh. This game has so many events that it'll probably be something like golden pursuit>actual holiday event>explorer mini event>/or at the same time as/golden pursuit.
To have the GP be every week or every 2 weeks would make it so that its not special (maybe you will say that its special to you, but will the vast majority of players say that?), and definitely not spontaneous. It'll just tire people out. Its important to have a time where you can just breathe and not have to worry about an event or Pursuit looming in the background.

Too early to say, is what I'd say.

It depends on the balance they strike between rewarding players for however they personally enjoy the game, and trying to force players into playing content they don't and won't ever enjoy.

The entire thing just seems like "Endeavors 2.0 Now With 300% More FOMO!"

Yes, more rewards are nice and the speed at which you can acquire the rewards is nice.

But... It's still simply based on a system of "Do these specific things during this alotted timeframe or you're SOL!"

Which is to be expected. Given that the primary purpose of something like this is to get people playing during the period.

However, a far more player friendly system would be something like:

    - Campaigns last forever. Once it's added to the game, all players have it until they complete it.
    - Progress is based on a simple "Activity Score" which builds when doing... Anything. Whether you're out farming crafting materials, questing, PvPing, doing Dungeons/Trials or whatever, you're gaining "Activity Points" which accumulate to unlock the rewards.
    - Maybe you put on some special events, where certain activities provide bonus "Activity Points" to urge people into doing specific things (Not unlike regular events)

I wouldn't mind if Golden Pursuits replaced some of the events. There are too many events, and the reward system is tired now. I don't need more styles and whatever else events usually offer. So if we go back to a few events a year, rather than 1 a month almost, I'd be happy.

It's not just another Endeavor system. And it shouldn't be always happening. It's intended for themed content/events.

Of course, if players don't like it, perhaps they'd like to go back to the dumpster fire of a system that was used to hand out rewards during the last Jubilee event.

Totally agree with the part about getting rewards from an appropriate source. I went farming mats today, especially needing hardwood, and I could find lots of ruby ash but almost none of them had hardwood. An hour later I didn’t have enough to craft one single item.

I haven’t looked at this new system much yet, I used to be religious about doing endeavors but they are getting very niche and I don’t care to go far out of my way to do them anymore. I have a lackluster wait and see approach about it until it gets here.

Honestly it doesn't change a thing for me reward wise. Another FOMO thingie that just distributing more stuff for doing close to nothing. Not sure that's what the game have missed, people largely asked for appropriate rewards for content, like you're getting new things to do in game which rewards you appropriately to the challenge provided. So kinda sigh. Glad it helps anyone and makes 'em excited.

It's an event plug basically so it shouldn't be running back to back, they also probably aware how fast burn out would occur so spacing out might alleviate it a bit.

Players a few moments ago : we would like to know in advance when an event begin
ZOS today : you will never know when a golden pursuit begin !

Outside of the cheap joke, can't say I'm that thrilled for these. Just like other said, endeavour 2.0 with less agenda for the player. It's ok I guess, depending on the rewards and the time you need to invest to get them.

I used to be religious about doing endeavors but they are getting very niche and I don’t care to go far out of my way to do them anymore.

I also used to be religious about doing the daily and weekly endeavors.

Then I accidentally didn't do a third endeavor on one server, and deliberately skipped one on the other server to keep my totals equal on both servers. Then I accidentally missed an entire day on a server. Then there were a couple of times when I missed multiple days on both servers due to an internet outage or a power outage. I even missed doing the weekly endeavor on one server. And there have occasionally been times when none of the options for a third endeavor were activities that I considered "doable" on my characters.

My total Seals of Endeavor are currently more than enough to buy an apex mount, or whatever the next-to-the-top category is, but so far none of them have been anything that I really wanted. (The "disco horse"-- I mean, Varen's Legacy or whatever it was called-- looked potentially fun, and the "glitter and flowers senche-raht" also looked potentially fun, but I'm more into the less showy mounts; even my current mount and dog are a bit "froo-froo" and took some warming up to.)

Once you accidentally miss a few endeavors, or are forced to miss them due to circumstances beyond your control, it's easier to take a more relaxed attitude toward them. I still enjoy using the endeavors as an excuse to choose to do certain content that I enjoy doing but haven't done in a while, but I'm not going to get bent out of shape if three of the five endeavors are for activities I'm really not interested in or that I feel are too difficult for me. :)

Exactly. I did spend over 10k endeavors for 3 emerald candlefly gathering furnishings today for one of my houses. I hate to see furnishings in the crates and it costs a lot of endeavors versus gems to buy these, but I’d much rather have things like this instead.

I'll probably use Golden Pursuits in the same way that I use Endeavors and the daily/weekly rewards: when I have the time, and/or if there's something that I really want and have the inclination to get it. I don't have FOMO so it's going to be "hey, yeah!" or "meh..." whenever it pops up.

It looks like ZOS is taking a leaf out of Guild Wars 2's book with:
    1. Daily rewards
    2. Weekly rewards
    3. Special rewards (3 mthly)

This should be interesting if ZOS can get it right. I just hope that ZOS follows their 'play the way you want' philosophy and allows players to max out their rewards by exclusively doing the specific game mode that the players prefer the most.

Nothing to be hyped about. Same thing as the Endeavors only with "cheaper" rewards. Rewards look to be quite limited. E.g., you can only get a mandatory pet rather than Seals which you can use to buy outfit or mount.

I mean, it's more "free stuff" so can't complain much. But it, once again, shows the lack of creativity in ZOS team. Same thing over and over dressed differently. That's pretty much their mantra. And this makes me sad.
