I was curious so I went to my friend's Mathiisen Manor that I have decorator privileges for. I found a sconce next to the door on one of the upstairs balconies. I was unable to target it.
So I went to the retrieve tab and was able to find 3 sconces that we had placed ourselves and was able to remove them. But the one by the door didn't show up.
Neither of us had placed a sconce by that door so it must be a permanent fixture of this house, but it seems odd that they would do that.
What this must mean is that when I placed that sconce - which I definitely did - that rather than placing it in my house, the game placed it in the "root" house server side.
And in case anyone hoping to directly alter other root houses for any reason, no I don't remember doing anything weird to cause this.
After a few back and forths asking for screenshots and reporting that others are also seeing the same bug in their homes, it has been escalated.
I'm impressed. I've been playing ESO on and off since launch and had grown accustomed to repeatedly banging my ahead against the proverbial brick wall with support. Typically with at least several days and sometimes over a week between responses and often those responses seemingly ignoring the details of my report or being completely bonkers.
This time nothing ridiculous and all the back and forth's done in about half a day.
It's outoors. The upstairs patio to the left - assuming you're facing north towards the entrance.
I think I placed it about 3 years ago and it wouldn't surprise me if most players who bought this one did so long before then.
I only waited so long because I figured they'd eventually release a proper manor manor, and purchasable for gold, for all of the playable races.
If players who bought it before me don't see it but afterwards do, then that suggests that rather than a static "root" home on the server, every player buys what is at that time a static root home, but the root home can be changed by devs and different over time.
Which does make sense in relation to the Vvardenfell homes. If I recall correctly at one point the devs altered something in one of their gardens at one point, and told people to buy it before that change going live if they wanted the original version.
Maybe I tried placing a matching one on the other balcony and that's what I'm remember.
Thought it is odd that the sconce is in some players' copy of this house but not others.
I can't remember when I bought this house either. Was it more than 7 years ago? Maybe I'm remembering right and did cause this. I have been playing on and off since launch.
My play has been so interrupted I sometimes go years between continuing to furnish my little collection of homes.
