TnL proves how much graphics, animations and PvP matter, despite what this community says.

Throne and Liberty just released and it's making a lot of buzz. Biggest streamers are complimenting it, and the game has over 300k concurrent players.

Here are the things that everyone mention that they love:

- graphics
- animations
- a lot of love for PvP part of the game

Now you can say it's a new game hype, but most MMOs don't even come close to this much success on release.

Everything else in the game pretty much sucks and doesn't even come close to ESO. And yet, people are absolutely loving it.

I understand that most people in this small and vocal community do not care about graphics, animations, or PvP, but most of the gaming world does. I'm confident that if Zenimax would for once focus on upgrading these aspects of the game, instead of another samey pve zone, ESO would get more popular than it ever was.

"But it's easier to release PvE dlc zone rather than upgrade graphics/animations" - no, it's not. Also, does it matter? It's obviously not working. New players aren't coming and old ones are leaving.

"But nobody plays PvP" - because PvP community moved to games where PvP is not abandoned.

I really hope that for 2025, ZOS will go back to the drawing board and work on outdated mechanics, graphics, and animations, to bring ESO to today's standards, because if they do, it will blow everything else out of the water. Another PVE copy/paste dlc will do absolutely nothing.

    It's a pay-2-win game, so, no thanks.

Yea great, but you just proved my point or didn't read anything. The game is garbage, but it has beautiful graphics, animations, and PvP and yet it has 20x more concurrent players on steam alone than ESO. That tells you something. If you include console, that number is probably 60x.

If people enjoy how the game looks, feels, and plays, and can go competitive, they'll play a P2W garbage game apparently 60 times more likely than a great game that plays and looks bad.

Well I tried the free version on stream. The graphics are really nice. And I'm in a really large multi game guild (they haven't played ESO since True Flame) and they are playing it. But from what I've seen, don't you have to be in a pretty big guild for the PVP? I haven't leveled up enough to try it but the streamers make it look fun.

The balance problem in ESO has really made a lot of pvp players leave. That and performance.

I do not think comparing newly released game to a ten year old game with very well established lore and stuff makes sense. Sure it may have better parts or whatever. But still i think that game is still in the release hype era.

Or, imagine this; people are playing the game because it’s not bad.

It’s new and interesting and isn’t afraid of itself.

When you play ESO, you feel like you’re littered with horrible incomplete systems because the game is afraid of being great at anything, while T&L doesn’t have anywhere near the level of content you’d find on a 10 year old game, but everything it does, it does exceptionally.

It’s a case of would you rather an ocean with no depth or a bottomless pond.

Personally, I’m enjoying the pond knowing very well that it’s raining, and that pond is quickly turning into a lake without any loss of depth.

New world had great numbers for a month as well, same graphics improvements etc etc. Post those numbers in a month and see what happens. I was in that New World crowd and didn't even make it a month.

Everyone always wants to try the next big thing it's how long they stick to it that matters.

I'm not comparing the entire game, just few aspects of it. As I've mentioned, most games don't even have as good start as TnL. I don't think ESO had such a good start. The bottom line is, visuals, feel, and competitive aspect of the game matter more than people realize. There's a very good reason why phone apps today also have to look good and give you this satisfaction when interacting with it. The same goes for the games. ESO, has incredible depth, but there are things about it that just need to be refreshed. It's just a shame seeing it perform so badly in comparison and slowly dying, when a fresh new paint would give it a new life.

This was posted during the first month of the game’s release, you cannot pay for better gear than the gear this player is using as a free-to-play player.

    Fact check your sources.

Right now, some ESO guilds are playing TnL. Quite a few went to NW when it launched but most came back. ESO has a lot of solo players. I'm not sure TnL will attract them. I know a lot still log on ESO for daily rewards and do endeavors but may play other games like TnL.

I switch around but ALWAYS end up between ESO and WOW. Seems like a lot of ppl end up back on ESO.

That's what happened to me. I just have too fond memories of ESO, and when I log in I feel at home. Trying TnL made me imagine though what ESO could be after some engine/gameplay updates. Unfortunately none of my friends or big guilds I played with returned. Big guilds play for PvP for the most part, and in ESO it died simply because of lack of support, not because of imbalance.

    Greetings,

As this thread is not about ESO, we have decided to close it.
