Improved Sneak and Invisibility Detection Mechanics - Clarification Needed

Hey everyone,

I've been testing out the Medium Armor Passive - Improved Sneak, which reduces the cost of Sneak by 7% for each piece of medium armor equipped and also reduces the size of your detection area while sneaking by 5% per piece. It clearly states that it works for Sneak Detection, but I noticed something interesting while using cloak against Detect Potions.

It seems that the passive somehow works to reduce detection while using invisibility skills, even though it specifically mentions sneak detection, not invisibility detection. If this passive is only meant to work for sneaking, why does it seem to help against detect pots while using cloak? It’s like the game is treating sneaking and invisibility detection as the same thing, which shouldn’t be the case.

Also, has anyone noticed if this is also affected by the green Champion Point passive Out of Sight (which reduces the radius you can be detected while sneaking by 1 meter per stage)? I feel like this shouldn’t apply to invisibility either, but it may be working the same way.

Would love some clarification on whether this is intended or just a weird overlap in how detection works. It doesn’t seem right that these sneak passives should affect invisibility detection. Anyone else experiencing this, or have thoughts on why it’s happening?

Thanks in advance!

I just tested this. Seems like the detection isn't working correctly. I would recommend reporting this as a bug.

It's intended. The opposite potion is even invisibility. Invisibility is just a stronger form of sneaking but it's still stealth. They both are affected by all stealth related things afaik. I could be wrong but I think that's how it works.

The tooltip is unclear. If it is intended then they should fix tooltip. If it isn't then they should fix the detection.

This is not good news. In PvP, the real problem is invisibility, not cloak. You can’t spam cloak indefinitely but you can spam invisibility potions indefinitely.

Sure. They could change the help tooltip to clarify that invisibility is just a stronger form. But, potion wise, it's already pretty clear. Detect is the opposing effect for Invisibility. ZOS considers stealth to be a small number of things. In addition, when you take an invisibility potions, you get the closed eye. This open/partially opened/closed eye on the middle of the screen is how you know. They could include a tutorial on the eye too.
