Store fees are too high

The current fees for posting items on guild stores is much too high and will have a significant detrimental impact on the willingness of players to use the store.

15% posting fee which is non-refundable makes it very risky to post high level items. Even at low levels this presents an overwhelming barrier to entry.

10% cut of profit is reasonable, but combined with the posting fee this amounts to a 25% surcharge on a successful sale.

Since players are limited to only 30 slots in the store, a high posting fee is not needed to discourage junk posts. I would suggest lowering the posting fee and perhaps make this a sliding scale (the higher the asking price the lower percentage). Reasonable sliding scale would be from 5% to 2%.

It's the same with COD mail, and for some reason it doesn't seem to scale properly. First time I sent an item COD for 1500g I noticed the 110g tax at exactly the same time that I pressed send. Then a few days later I tried to send 2 items (same items) for 3000g and the tax was for some reason 660g. I do realise it says the price is determined by the item AND the COD value, but this increase seems insane. Maybe it's not working as intended though and that's why they disabled mail, I still haven't seen a solid answer as to why they disabled it in the 1st place.

All this is going to do is make people not want to use guild shops and to spam the /zone chat. I know that's what I've been doing for the past 3 days.

There already seems like enough gold sinks in the game already without bleeding guild shop users dry. Horses, bag/bank slots not to mention repair costs (I managed to get a 688g repair bill for level 8-12 medium armor, 2 green rest white items, it's cheaper just to craft a new set lol)

Yup, I have seen the posting price to auction something... and decided that I will buy from the Guild store... but I'm not going to sell things on it because it's just too expensive. :(

Making any kind of high quality item has a risk already. If you make a gold bow, try to sell it in chat first before posting in store.

COD fees are ridiculous. I've never seen CODs of this magnitude. COD should be a flat rate of no more than a few gold (and speaking of which, the lack of any lower value coins really makes for a lack of flexibility in these prices).

+1 been an issue for a long time. The worse part is you think you listed your item at a fair value and then a guildmate under cuts you by 10g and now you are out huge listing fee.

+1 this as well. I joined two trading guilds, and then once I saw how much I was losing in fees, i went back to spamming chat.

This is just one of the things that has me really unimpressed with the functionality of guild stores. I joined a guild dedicated to merchants, and almost nobody ever sells anything. I can't say I blame them, because I try to sell now and then, but in order to do so, I need to price gouge my guildies in order to cover the fees and still make it more profitable than selling to an NPC (which would also give me the advantage of getting my money immediately because NPCs don't dither about whether they're being overcharged).

Say what you will about public auction houses destroying economies, in City of Heroes, I could buy and/or sell stuff for a price I was content with, then get back to adventuring.

I believe the current system encourages trading between players in person. This fosters a more social community where you know players by their names and craft, instead of dealing with impersonal item listings.

For example: Bob knows Charlie is a blacksmith and wants to buy an Orcish style sword. They negotiate a price via whispers. Bob meets Charlie at the smithing station and hands over some materials. Charlie custom crafts the sword and trades it for x amount of gold.

Nobody pays any fees in this scenario. Charlie gains a customer who may refer friends to him in the future.

Tip: Don't craft something until you have a buyer or plan on using it.

I'm confused why do MMO's companies even charge a "Tax" It's virtual money not like it goes to new content development or salaries. What are they even using it for?? I understand the portion going to your guild, but why would ZOS need a cut too? We need more transparency here.

No, it encourages the spam of giant walls of blue and green items for sale in zone chat and my ignore list is getting full.

I agree with eq2imora_ESO paying a quarter the asking price just to have it evaporate into thin air does not lead to people talking to people it leads to spam so that people can sell their items and get all their money. I can understand gold sinks but that's not a sink that's a whirlpool.

First off people saying that they did this to encourage person to person trading need to give me a good reason why there is no global trade channel. If they wanted people to trade this way they should have thought of that.

I personally think the fees for a lot of things in game are too high but I am still leveling so I can't comment on what it will be like at max level. I do think that The Devs have some balance work to do as far as gold sinks go. As long as they are actually reviewing the system and taking feedback I'm happy for now. It's early days yet. It would be nice to get some dev feedback on the forums though :/
