Not noticing double XP buff

This week we are supposed to be getting a double XP buff and was excited to level up an alt quickly. When running dolmens in Alikir I am noticing it is taking me the exact same amount of dolmens to level up. I was expecting the amount needed to be cut in half with this buff, or at the very least...one less dolmen needed in the rotation...but currently I am getting roughly the same percentage of a level as I did just a couple weeks ago.

I have a full training xp buff set on and a XP scroll buff. I was wondering if there is a cap to XP buffs like there is for Crit, if there was a way check this, and if this weeks bonus is just a hidden scroll buff and maybe my scroll is not stacking with it.

Its a hidden buff. XP is just auto doubled AFAIK. You can stack it all. Gear. XP scroll. Mara ring. Group in 2 for extra XP. I think there are a few more things you can stack on it but can't remember off the top of my head.

Well its definitely not working on dolmens in Alikir right now. I'll have to try other content and see if its working there

I let my xp scroll run out and I went from 19% of a level on completion of a dolmen to 18% of a level for completion. These numbers are what I was getting just a couple weeks ago. Not sure what is going on with the xp buffs but on the surface it is not making sense.

I don't know about dolmens, but I'm definitely getting double XP and double gold on other things, such as daily crafting writs and master writs.

One thing that can throw me off when I'm checking on XP buffs is the impact of Enlightenment on the amount of XP earned. During a double-XP event, my daily Enlightenment gets used up very quickly, so I can start out earning a huge amount of XP, then suddenly (after my Enlightenment has been used up) the amount of XP I'm earning seems to drop off considerably. Is it possible that this sort of thing is throwing you off?
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

No because I went in depth over this topic just very recently with a guild member when leveling an alt through this same process. Wore the exact same set. Same exact scroll. Same exact process. So its a good and recent in memory comparison.

There is definitely not a double xp buff for that process sadly. Also I noticed once my XP scroll wore off that it barely does a thing which makes me think the XP buff we are getting is actually just a secret scroll and maybe that prevents other scrolls from interacting with it.

We tested on writs and are noticing the extra gold though. I am going to test dungeon and battleground XP differences here soon but as for killing monsters in dolmens and the predictable XP for completing a dolmen, its definitely not doubled or anywhere close.

I'm taking the opportunity to level up a newly minted toon, and I'm seeing the Double XP. And when I pop a scroll, I'm seeing the benefit of that too.

Just finished a dolmen after seeing this thread, and I had zero issues there. My new toon was getting a very generous amount of XP. I'm on console so can't give exact numbers, and my companions are all max'd out so can't use them as a reference. Can only eyeball it. But the bump is considerable enough that it was easy to see.

I always powerlevel with 5pc Heartland Conq, and Training Trait on all gear except jewelry, so any change to XP gains is easily noticeable.

I leveled Azandar from 14 to 18 in two skyreach runs, a spellscar run, and an IA run. 150% scroll, head to toe training gear. Total time grinding, 2 - 3 hours.

This is consistent with previous double XP events, which I usually use to level NPC companions.
Thank you for coming to my T E D talk

Yeah i just looked at the numbers again to make sure and its definitely not the numbers advertised. Even the scrolls are not giving the advertised amount. A 150% scroll is only giving a 3% increase to the XP gain vs without it.

Dolmens are going faster because of the large crowd, so that helps...but the actual numbers are not accurate to what is advertised. Feel free to check the numbers yourselves...although im not sure how to easily do that on console without having to open the UI, remember your XP value after dolmen boss dies, then check it again in 10 seconds when the dolmen completion XP buff happens, and divide that change by the total to give you the percentage change for easy comparison.

note that it is a bonus 100% base xp, not full double
so if something gives 100 xp:
    base xp 100
    during event 200
no event with 150 scroll 250
    event with 150 scroll 350
for killing things with training gear the bonus is also a percent of base xp.

My own experience, mostly master writ turn ins and other high xp quests matches with peaceful anarchy's description.

The amount of experience required to level up increases with each level, so it's incorrect to measure the amount of XP gained as a percentage of the experience needed to level up. The difference in the amount of XP required between your measurements simply absorbed the +100% bonus from the event.

Just to put some numbers to it:
An imperial city daily, with no buffs other than ESO+, and no enlightenment, gets 18.x k XP for me. With a 50% scroll it's more like 28k XP. Today, with that 50% scroll going, I was pulling it 48k (a lot less than twice the 28k, because its the 150% of base as per Peaceful's description).
You really want to have known consistent xp values going in to make a meaningful check, and I'm not even sure if dolmen xp is fixed or if there's a component that varies depending on mob spawns and/or players present.

So dungeons with quests are definitely the way to go. The XP on those are scaling very well with scrolls. Even when its not a daily random...its giving you so much XP its over the normal daily random amount plus nearly a full level from just the quest inside.

This cannot be said for Dolmen completion XP though sadly. I would recommend not doing the typical Alikir farming and instead do some dungeons, dailies, and questing this week. LOTS of XP there.

+1 and a thumbs up for this.

When I power level, I always go the Story Questlines and Dungeons quests as they become available. Cuz I hate minting a brand new CP toon and be starved for skillpoints.

The XP buff works the same way on everything.

The XP issue with popular dolmens during these events is that you can’t tag as many things by yourself as you otherwise would if it were not as crowded. To try to get more tags in you can join a group, but the XP starts getting split once you go above two people. So the dolmens get done faster when they’re overcrowded during these events, but each one tends to give less XP than usual as a result of the crowding.

It is definitely working handing in MWs.

I am getting 60627XP from every MW I hand in with a 150% scroll active, ESO+ and max level char which checks out.

Please note that XP buffs are additive.

7485 base (for max level char) x 2.25 modifier for 'very hard' = 16841.25, which rounds to 16841

    16841 + 16841 (2XP buff) + 1684 (10% ESO+ buff, rounded) + 25261 (150% scroll, rounded) = 60627

My new character got 2 full levels just doing the daily crafting quests.
Full training gear with a scroll active.

Low levels are seeing the XP gain. My main though is happy enough with the double resources/money.

Thats why I say "Dolmen completion XP", since that is not based on attacking any mobs at all and is a preset amount. That XP was not being buffed when tested. The only explanation and defense of it working would be they nerfed the XP of Dolmens in the last 2 weeks and then are buffing it back with this event, like when a store raises prices right before they have a sale. My guess would be thats not the case and there is just some issue with the Dolmen XP currently.

Its really noticeable when you do other content though and see just how much XP you get in other things. Was a bit disappointed in myself when I went to go run some random dungeons and battlegrounds and saw how much time I wasted in Alikir. Thus the warning and suggestion for others...definitely go level up elsewhere...Level 50 in just a few hours from very fast randoms.
