Can someone explain why Brittle is exclusive to staves please.

It’s not. Rune of the colorless pool also applies brittle. Some classes have access to the status effects (brittle, off balance, …the other one) from staves, but they are staff status effects to begin with.

You mean the brittle "component" of the Chilled status effect?

Because there are lots of ways (as the previous poster illustrated) to apply Brittle outside of the Chilled Status Effect.

There are currently two skills that guarantee Minor Brittle: Elemental Explosion (with the Minor Brittle script) and Rune of the Colorless Pool. Both have a much longer duration than the Brittle sourced from applying Chill with a Frost Staff.

Edit: I guess technically Mender's Bond also applies it with the proper script, but that ability is pretty garbage for applying debuffs since it won't be affecting enemies very often as it's a tether connected to a teammate.

There's also a couple sets that apply major and minor brittle (Nunatak and the Saint and the Seducer respectively).

Then my Stamplar will never be able to use the Brittle for the Debuff. I was hoping for the chance to bring the damage up on the toon but i`m not giving up what damage it does in it`s current build. Nunatek and Saint would lower the DPS on that toon.

If you want Brittle you'll mainly need frost damage, if you want Concussed you'll mainly need shock damage, Sundered is mainly based on physical damage. If you want something you need to build for it but this still doesn't mean it's as useful to your build or even class as it's to others. Templar has a lof of magic damage with the corresponding Overcharged status effect and physical damage with the Sundered effect so that's your strong suit.

I'm but a sarcastic beef jerky. Irony and cynicism are my parents. You've been warned.

If you're solo just use Saint & seducer. If you're in a group it will be provided for you.

Thanks, I`m going with a Bleed and Sundered build. I believe Bleed is big this patch and I have been wanting to try it out. If this new build works out then I will run with it otherwise i`ll stick with the original. I was hoping for the Brittle debuff because my Stamplar is low on Crit damage but if this works out then wahoo! thanks again.
