Another khajiit as companion but still Bosmer, Nord and Orc companion missing

I think I probably will get the Khajit companion and maybe the high elf. However I really would have liked to see a companion for one of the missing races instead of getting a second khajiit.

My bosmer would really prefer to run around with another bosmer (for rpg reasons) and I am quite sure that applies to other players of the other two races as well.

Devs surely like their cats. 😉
If anyone here says: OH! But, PVP! I swear I'll ...

Thank you for the valuable input and respectfully recommend to discuss that aspect of ESO on the PVP forum.

The devs never said they'd do a companion of every race at all, much less they'd do them all first before doubling up etc.

They have never said it, but it would have been fair, in my opinion. And players have adressed it in the forums many times.

Yeah, it would have just made sense to try to cover one of each race just like they were doing with classes before repeating one.

I'd much rather they do companions based on the stories they want to tell rather than having to adhere to some formula.

Having said that, Bosmer are cute, and nords are fascinating. I'm very much looking forward to seeing companions of these races eventually.

The story should be the most important thing, but does the race even matter in most cases? Most stories can be told regardless of race.

Also, I could think of lots of different stories for all TES races, and I'm not even a professional fiction writer. It's not like they would have to trash Zerith-vars story, they could have just postponed that one and gave us one for a Nord, Orc or Bosmer first.

I guess it depends on the stories you're telling. If they're stories "about Tamriel", I think that often the race will be integral to that kind of story. Even a counter-trope has something to say about Tamriel.

Zerith-Var seems like a good example to me. Azurah- and some of the khajiit lore they set up with the Elsweyr chapter- lends itself more organically to a khajiit character being the one to tell this story.
Also, I could think of lots of different stories for all TES races, and I'm not even a professional fiction writer. It's not like they would have to trash Zerith-vars story, they could have just postponed that one and gave us one for a Nord, Orc or Bosmer first.

Maybe Zerith's story seemed so cool they wanted to put it out there right now, or the Nord, Orc, or Bosmer stories they wanted to tell would feel better told with other zones. None of that would bother me more than forcing something for the sake of predictable formula. I remember how forced Bastian seemed- clearly meant to be a Breton, but perhaps changed last minute to be an Imperial because of formulaic "this chapter imperial so he must be imperial". While its an example of any story can be told by any race- as you point out- it didn't feel organic, but forced. It was a Breton story in essence, and changing it for sake of formula lost something.

I don't disagree strongly or anything. There probably *are* lots of stories to be told. When I read this thread and the other recent one about companions I read it as appetite for more, and more variety. If you're only getting 2 options for the whole year, it doesn't really matter how good the timing, formula or story was, there's a good chance a lot of people wont be getting exactly what they wanted.

they actually talked about this in the q&a
    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/7937639/#Comment_7937639

Q: Is it possible to get a Companion that isn't one of the playable races? Like an Atronach or Arox even?

TM: We don’t necessarily feel we have to hit every player race and class in our companion designs before we can do stuff off the beaten path, like a Maormer or Dremora. What we care about, first and foremost, is creating compelling characters that players want to adventure with. That said, we see a lot of requests for companions from player races that we haven’t represented yet – like Altmer, or Nord – and there’s a ton of compelling characters we can make with those backgrounds.
So to answer the original question, it is absolutely possible! I can’t promise anything, but it’s something we’re constantly discussing.

i think we will eventually get Bosmer, Orsimer, and Nord companions but also do not expect them to happen all first.
we could totally get a Maormer or Reachfolk companion alongside one of the playable races next year.

or though unlikely perhaps we get a Maormer playable race within a few years and then get a Maormer companion in the same year.

It's an Aldmeri Dominion zone, of course they made them AD races. Just like what they did with previous companions representing the faction zone we're playing in (with Bastion being kind of an outlier as he's technically "homeless"). Why no Bosmer? Maybe they have a big Bosmer update planned someday, maybe even right next year with DC races the years after.

I would have loved to see an Orc, Nord, or Bosmer Necromancer companion. I don't mind the Kajhiit and will acquire that companion as soon as he's available, but still...

I already have a Templar companion (Isobel) so am completely uninterested in the new one.

The West Weald isn't suddenly an AD zone just because a few small Bosmer tribes begin to settle there.

West Weald is not an Aldmeri Dominion zone, it is an imperial zone like Blackwood and Gold Coast.

companions have matched their chapters yes, but this year's companions are not in the chapter.
it will likely be the same for the future

They're all in AD territory regions so the races match, that's all i said. And even if the new companions are not part of GR it's the main chapter behind them so they're related in my eyes. You may or may not agree but to me the race choice fits the purpose.

they are in Auridon and Reaper's March yes and they are unrelated to the Gold Road chapter.
also what's gc? Gold Road would be GR.

It's GR, yes. I mistyped. And it's fine if you don't agree, that's just my opinion.

Also i don't understand why people are making a fuss about it. I'm pretty sure we'll get all races as companions eventually and i really don't care about order. It's a game, there's no need to lose your head about pixels.
