Glyph for 1 handed Mace?

1h & Shield.
The weapon glyph looks like it only give me 1/2 damage (well 1h) so wondering what I should use for PvP.
Was thinking of the Glyph of Foulness or Glyph of Poison. Do they still rely on Pen to affect the enemy?

My thinking in 1v1 (were I die most times) if their burst damage does not kill me, they wear me down with impossible healing.
Not sure if this is better than trying to do more damage.

Thoughts about the weapon glyph for 1 handed?

The weapon type has no effect when using One-hand and Shield. Mace, dagger, sword, they are all the same.

As for the glyph, it probably depends on the class and build. For a DK I like to have at least one flame or poison glyph for an extra chance to proc status effects for the Combustion passive. If I can run both of those then I do.

After that it just depends on what your goals are. Want some extra pen that everyone can benefit from? Try a crusher or Stamina glyph (since it's physical damage it has a chance to proc Minor Breech). Want a little more healing and damage? Weapon Damage Glyph.

Disease, frost, and shock glyphs all can proc instant damage from the glyph itself and can also proc their associated status effect for yet another small burst of instant damage. Flame and poison have a higher initial burst of damage but if they proc their associated status effect it applies a DoT for a few seconds.

Like I said, since I play a DK a lot I usually go with poison and flame first and if I have room for another I usually go for disease. Sometimes I opt for weapon damage or crusher though depending on who I am playing with and if my build is stacking into a lot of weapon damage or needs some extra bit of pen.

I am running a Templar. I assume glyphs are affected by pen. I thought poison lasted for 6 seconds, which gives a Dot.
    For a DK, why poison?

Yes, glyph damage is effected by pen (and other factors such as sets and passives)
Sluggy is talking about a glyph of poison which applies the poisioned status effect which is a DoT, so yeah you got that right.
as for why poison on a DK, combustion passive increases the damage of the poisioned status effect by 40% and restores 1K mag and stam to him when it procs.

However it is worth noting that on a one handed weapon enchantments are 50% weaker than on a two handed weapon, which is why I am going to suggest that you look into using alchemical poisons as they are as strong on both a one handed and two handed weapon, on top of that they are extremely versitle.

with my personal fave mixture being Beetle Scuttle + blessed thistle + powered mother of pearl which upon hitting a target afflicts them with
Hinderance, reducing their move speed by 40%,
minor vulenrability making them take 5% more damage,
minor defile reducing their healing and sheilds by 6%
    and buffs me with
Major Expedtion, increasing movement speed by 30%
Minor protection, reducing the damage taken by 5%
Minor vitaility, increaseing my heal and sheild strength by 6%
which is a lot of effects and an expensive poison

but if you just want raw damage
Nirnroot + nightshade + Felshfly larva
deal 1456 poison damage per second for 3.5 seconds
deal 954 poison damage per second for 6.4 seconds
For a total of 10K damage (which is the same as the crown poisons they give away btw)
(for comaprsion a damage glyph does ~2.6K damage in one smack with chance at status effect)

Any idea how much damage the poison glyph adds? Or does at DoT

Ok, I see why a DK would use this now.

    Thank you!

    Thank you!

the poison damage glyph does 2534 posion damage (which is direct damage) with a CHANCE to apply the poisoned status effect (the chance varies based upon method used to apply it an, 20% via enchant, 10% on single target direct attack, 5% on aoe direct, 3% on single target dot, 1% on aoe dot)

as for what the poisoned status effect does, does DoT damage for 4 seconds, the exsact amount this damage does varies based on a whole pile of factors, but it's slightly below what other status effects do in terms of damage due to the fact that it has built in execute scaling, dealing up to 100% more damage to targets based on their missing health, starting at 100% aka if they have 99% health the poisoned status effect does 1% more damage, if they have 50% it does 50% more..and so on.

But here's the kicker ANY source of poison damage can proc the effect, including alchemical poisons (provided they are damage based rather than debuff based, in which case they will fall under the 3% single target direct)

    Solid! Thanks for the help!
Makes me wonder if I should go back to a fire glyph...
