How to handle camera for screenshots?

I sometimes would like to make a screenshot of my character from inside the game but as his head is bound to the camera he is constantly looking away.

Is there a mode that I can toggle on that allows avoiding this?

Unrelated but there's another question I have. How do you take screenshot without the UI and without using addon? I just press F12 on Steam (lame I know...)

There is an ingame screenshot mode you can turn on that turns off all of the UI elements in video settings

Bind a key to remove UI in the options. Get your Character in the pose you want. Press the bound key. Then take a screencap.

I know about UI removal but does this remove the automatic head movement as well? That is my main issue here.

certain emotes might lock your head in place

Can you name them? There are so many.

Ideally some that don't have shiny effects.

You can turn off the entire UI with the press of a single button. You can set that up in your key settings.
I personally use Nvidia Ansel ingame to take scenic screenshots, especially when I want to work with a DoF that actually does as it's told. I only got to press two buttons, one to hide the UI and the other to open Nvidia Ansel and off goes the photo session.

There's no ingame setting that turns off the automatic turn of the head, best you can do is not point your crosshair at another player character or NPC.

Go into cursor mode. By default, it's the "." key.

The character is set to look at whatever is targeted on your crosshair, which is the thing that'll show up with the healthbar in the center of your screen. If you're in cursor mode, then the character will just face forward.

This can be done while you have your UI off. I tend to just going into ScreenshotHelper UI off mode, set up my camera, and then the last thing I do is push "." to get my character to face the right way.

This was taken by setting up the picture using /leanback emote with my UI on then hitting my key to hide the UI and moving the camera to the position I required.

The only additional work I did was crop the picture to make my character closer in the finished version, very easily done by using window's photos..... right click on screenshot and open with > photos.

Most emotes tend to not have shiny effects, I think you are thinking of memento's.

    Here's a list of some .....

It's easy on PC: position your character, pick the angle, elevation of your camera, remove the UI with the Hot Key you've set up in Settings, take the screenshot - I use Shift-Print Screen.

The only thing I'm not happy with is the restricted range in which you can pan and zoom the camera. Which in turn doesn't allow you to truly zoom in properly, you typically need to do your zooming and cropping using a drawing/painting program.

    Try Unlimited Camera Zoom https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info1273-UnlimitedCameraZoom.html

I use that all the time, and you can get so close you're basically clipping into the character.

Another trick I use is to set the HOffset and HPos to opposite ends - I use ScreenshotHelper and just push the camera all the way to one side and then pull back to center. If you do that, it slightly lowers the camera a little bit more, which gives you great control for portraits if you're zoomed in slightly.

These were all done with no photoshop or reshades. The only thing is that I just have my game gamma set on the dark side.

Those are very nice shots indeed. Thanks for the tips, I shall definitely try your suggestions out! :-)

Thanks! I will try that out, too!

A shame that ZON did not implement a decent camera control or even a free camera mode (at least within a certain radius around the character so to avoid people zooming around in Tamriel) like they had in skyrim.

I have another question related to how to make screenshots:

If I toggle off the UI it unfortunately does not remove quest markers or companion markers (the rhombus on top of them). My warden cannot make a selfie without his bear foto bombing it with its rhombus on top of it. Sometimes, the rhombus stays at the edge of the picture if the companion, following npc etc is outside the frame.

Dismiss the bear for the screenshot? ;)

In Settings -> Nameplates -> Indicators, you can switch off the marker for the bear under "Followers".
