Many of them don't even look like opal. The Engine Guardian staff looks totally like dyed bismuth, actually - which fits the brass/Dwemer style even better, and which is a reason I used that style for a while. But others? Not so far, and I somehow doubt that I ever will.

For a while they were incredibly expensive which I found hilarious because no one uses them. Even just after an undaunted event, there would be no one using them but you could sell them for tens of thousands of gold.
It was a key observation for me about the absurdity of the FOMO economy.
No, I tend to like more natural looking styles than something ostentatious like those. It’s fine if they keep releasing them, I am sure some people like them.
Also, I do like the coloring and opal-ish effect, but as the styles are now, I don't have much use for them.
Reasons being:
1. I don't use helmets. I spend quite a lot of time on my characters faces, I don't want to cover them.
2. I don't use shoulders. Most styles are way too bulky for the outfits I like.
3. I keep most of my weapons at the style of the set I'm using. Just as an extra visual indicator that my sets swap correctly in trials.
4. As someone already mentioned, the opal treatment is being applied to the styles that are not very attractive. Especially in comparison to some of the newer ones.
I would like to be able to unlock opal dye and apply it to armor or weapons of my choosing.
I often choose opals like one of the option while outfitting my alts. Especially staves.
In the end I've chosen other styles, the dyeble ones. So it looks like opals are not the best for me. But they are viable options, they are good enough.
I like some of them. I don't like the new ones currently on the Impressario because I think the blue looks out of place with the base style and they should have chosen something more in keeping with the original to make them 'fancy' versions, instead of slapping on the same effect they always use. But on some of the older ones where it fits with the original design it looks good.

I usually don't like them as they don't match well with most of the dyes, however the newest opal style Earthgore doesn't look all too bad. I might use it on my sorc.
Some I like better than others, but I am ok with it in general being in the game. You never know when a weapon of that style and color will fit with a character design.
I like the particle effects, but not being able to dye the weapons themselves ruins them for me. I’ve tried to make them work with some outfits, but always end up switching to something else.
