Yayyyyy!!!!!! New PvP Cyrodiil update.....coming in Update 95 0.o

The leaks had pretty much confirmed it but was sad to see it become a reality in the live stream tonight.

The PvP update was new BG's and nothing for Cyrodiil (which please someone correct me if I'm wrong, must be hands down the most popular form of PvP in the game?).

I was watching the comments and people must have posted 'Cyrodiil' at least once every couple of seconds. It was a continuous stream, which makes me wonder who are these people that ZoS got feedback about in regards the direction of this PvP update? Was there a poll on the forum that I missed?

The most annoying thing about this is, while doing something for the PvP community is good, how long do us players that aren't fans of BG's and spend most of our time in Cyrodiil going to have to wait for the next major PvP update? It could be years (as I doubt we'll get a major update to PvP next year).

At least my wife is happy, she's just inherited millions of gold on Xbox.

Anyone want 10million gold on PC NA 🤣🤣?

The leaks confirmed it? ZOS had officialy said many times that it was not going to be Cyrodiil content.

Also, the servers and PvP in Cyrodiil have been suffering from lag and bad performance for a long time, and at this point I don't think a fix is possibe, as ZOS has been trying for 10 years now.

So forget about a Cyrodiil update. It won't happen. Ever.

I've got 33,000 endeavours to spend on Thursday, then will probably have a good ol' break to be honest.

Was looking forward to a PvP update for months and months and then this was a real slap in the face unfortunately.

I've never really had an major issue with lag (since the server updates) to be honest and that included playing on NA server on Xbox and PC from the UK. Must have been lucky.

I don't usually frequent the forums much or watch live streams so only heard it wasn't Cyro related a few weeks ago.

Maybe for ESO2 they'll fix Cyro and we can have hundreds or thousands per alliance (one day maybe).

I would gladly take the gold lol, no more millions here after decorating the new $5 house.

For real though, it is incredibly sad, even as a non-PVPer, to see Cryo get so neglected after all this time. And even the new battlegrounds stuff sounds very MEH.

Maybe because BGs have perhaps been the most neglected content and badly in need of some updates? Or how the game is 10 plus years old and doesn't have a basic instanced PvP mode with one team versus one other team which virtually what every other MMO game with PvP has? Three teams is silly and count.

All the "PvP" players who are complaining about this much needed update sound exactly like the PvE only players who complain anytime anything is done for PvP at all, using the "logic" that PvP players are such a minority that, there shouldn't be anything done for PvP at all and PvE is where all the new content should be added to cater to the majority.

Have you considered the reason why BGs are small as they are is because of how badly neglected it has been over the years and its about time they do something? Its also quite obvious that cyro has performance issues that aren't going to be fixed anytime soon so they might as well start adding PvP content where performance is much more manageable instead of stalling for eternity.

Or maybe, a significant proportion of the "PvP" players in cyro are upset that they won't be able to play as an OP ballgroup, have the potential to mindlessly zerg with a numbers advantage, siege down outnumbered players or siege empty keeps for PvDoor because its super fun, etc...

I know a few people who ended their eso+ sub right after the stream.

IF they do not have a Cyro focused update on the roadmap for next year then I'm done with this game. I've been playing this game since beta but it's clear with the last few updates that they have lost touch with what players really want.
Will the real LadyGP please stand up.

I pretty much only play battlegrounds so I’m happy. However I am disappointed that they didn’t do anything for cyrodiil, I feel like it might be hard to do because at this point they’d probably have to change the core mechanics of cyrodiil to make people happy, in the past they’ve added breakable bridges/gates, towns, outposts, and it just doesn’t make people happy. They actually need to change it up completely

They opened the announcement today with the comment, “we’ve heard a lot of feedback from the PvPers out there…” WHO? Where are they getting this feedback from? No one wants BGs, these are completely dead on my server. Pvpers want updates and changes to Cyrodiil not another gamemode full of tanks and cheese sets that’ll ultimately die after a couple of months

You nailed it. PvP players care about Cyrodiil more than any other aspect of the game. We don't run BG's with any kind of regularity. We play the 3 faction war. We're looking for huge, epic, hours long siege battles with huge d-ticks. You know, how it used to be. So we know ZOS can make it work if they made the investment.

I think BG update is better than nothing. Cyrodiil seems like a mess code base, maybe it's good they don't change anything 🤔.
Changes can be bad, take care of what you wish for. Undeath passive nerf is already a good step.

What Cyro changes do you want? I am just curious.

Fixing the performance issues or balancing skills are not something specific for Cyro.

Given that with the upcoming update They are taking the wack wahoo chaotic fun time essence of BGs and throwing it out the window by adding in a lives system meaning each match is going to devolve Into what we had back when BGs was "whoops all death match" aka procset McGee and his 50,000 health Vs the gank squad aka what you find in cyro other than ballgroups aka what people come to BGs to avoid, do you really want them to touch cyro?

This is pretty spot on. As someone who hates PvP (in this game), I sometimes fired up the occasional battleground for a casual goofy brawl that I oddly usually won with my team (especially when it was not a deadmatch mode). But with these updates it seems they have thrown out exactly the small things I liked about this so I will probably become a pure PvE player only.

The performance issues are very specific for Cyro, and basically the only (or rather, first) Cyro change I'd like to see.

Based on Gina's awkward response on the live stream, I get the feeling that they are working on Cyrodiil updates and can't tell us. Or they at least have something in the backlog.

After watching the stream & thinking about it, I think that the huge problem is that devs seems to be convinced that ESO PvP is competitive. I mean this is the impression I got. They kinda think of BGs as if it was some kinda of "moba" type of competitive e-sport type of mode. And I would say that if you have ever played at least some BGs, then you know that balance wise, ESO PvP, whatever mode it is (BGs, IC, Cyro, Duels) is anything but competitive.

And if they treat something that is more like a "sandbox pvp" without any kind trace of balance as if it was a competitive skill based e-sport stuff... then it will never be good.

Again... this the impression & my thoughts I have after watching the stream.

As i already said in another thread: They updated the pvp content only 10 people play, so saying that they "listened to us" just feels wrong. The more i hear about ESO's future, the more glad i am i canceled my ESO+ and skipped Gold Road.

Just please leave the Cyrodiil alone and untouched for the players that enjoy playing there, Cyrodiil is beautiful as it is. Any change to Cyrodiil is going to be a change for worse, the Hammer for example made it worse. Some of us just want a simple open world PvP area, where you can play however you like. Cyrodiil is continously updated with every other update, with new skills, builds and playstyles to try. Always challenging, always fun and every day new experiences. This is in the core why PvP is appealing to many of us.

If you get bored from Cyrodiil due to "lack of content", you will probably ask soon enough for another new content after a new content to keep you entertained for another couple days in a game mode that imo you dont really enjoy.

But does its design and implementation deliver the intended game play experience? I get the impression most PvPers want ZOS to address that: performance, population size and balance, ball groups and such, not adding in new stuff.
Please stop making requests for game features. ZOS have enough bad ideas as it is!

The PvP community has been applying massive amounts of copium to their skin for over 5 years now. Now we're all out and the stores don't even sell copium anymore. (probably because the market is so bad right now ;) )

What do I want in Cyrodiil?

    1. Get rid of resource towers. ZOS got rid of the doors, now, please just get rid of the towers.

    2. Get rid of out posts WP, *** & CA. With lower pop caps we don't need them.

    3. A proc set and siege that is unavoidable and only hits players in groups. All proc sets to ONLY hit players in groups. Example: VD wil only proc on players that are in the same group.

    4. Change to LM at KC where siege will no longer hit KC. Siege from KC can not reach players/siege on that wall. So do something to change this terrain.

    1. higher pop caps
    2. campaign end rewards to mean something
    3. campaign scoring system not decided on what alliance has most Aussie and Asian players
    4. more objectives (moving supply wagons, fixed resource nodes, etc) to use the 90% of the map that never sees a fight
    5. some sort of scoreboard keeping track of which alliance actually wins a campaign and some reward/consequence for winning them
    6. npcs not to use my old beloved skills that ZOS nerfed to the ground against me
    7. an acknowledgement from zos that stacking a dozen of the same HoT/shield is a bad mechanic and a test campaign to see what happens when these are removed
    8. the rush of agony set to die in a fire
    9. an update to the alliance war FAQ seeing how the last update was in April 2014
    10. a game master to occasional witness and adjudicate what goes on there
    11. the names of hired staff that we actually know are devoted to cyrodiil content and provide feedback via the official forums
    12. an attempt to acknowledge that certain skills/abilities are not fun to face as players and thus balanced differently for PvE and PvP
    13. keeps/castles that actually favor the defenders.
    14. objectives/mechanics that encourage inexperienced/newer players from standing inside a home keep with their map open looking for action
    15. guild ownership of a keep to actually mean something
    16. an end to destructible bridges/gates. Did not spread us out, did not work as intended. Make them capturable objectives.
    17. some seasonal events to add a little spice and variety to playing in Cyrodiil.
    18. new alliance war skills/abilities/consumables to deal with the problems and annoying play patterns that have come about in cyrodiil that were not anticipated by the original devs
    19. a mechanic that would require/incentivize people to go to different portions of the map to collect/acquire parts/components to do things like strengthen siege defenses, alliance score multiplier, or personal collectibles
    20. etc.etc.etc

Basically anything to communicate to me as a paying customer that Cyrodiil is not on autopilot and the company still cares that the game system is a huge part why paying customers still pay ZOS.
