ESO on steam deck: do you have to buy it again?

I heard that ESO is now in the "playable" category on Steam Deck.

I thought i would check it out. I am an ESO plus subscriber and have bought all the DLCs.

Do I have to buy them all "again" just to play on steam deck?? This makes no sense. I doubt it will be a "better' experience on steam deck, and likely will be buggy. Why should i have to but Gold road again, $59.99 ? Is there a way to avoid this?

I would guess that if you purchased the game through Steam and owned a Steam deck you could then play the game through the Steam deck without re-purchasing. Otherwise, a re-purchase of some sort via Steam would be necessary.

you should only need to have purchased ESO on Steam.

steam is pc so you have access to everything you have on the pc servers,
as long as you log in with the same eso account.

I think (not sure) in 2014 we originally bought the game through steam, well, at least we had Steam for a long time, but have just paid through the ESO store for everything since then. I can't see paying another 60 dlooars to Steam just so I can play a somewhat functional version of the game.

Does anyone play it on steam deck?

If you already own in on steam, you will not have to buy it again to play in steam deck so long as you use the account that used to purchase the game.

My husband has ESO without Steam, where I bought mine through Steam. We have a Steam Deck, and I wanted to get him access to the Steam Deck while we were away so he could collect his login rewards.

While there is a way to install ESO outside of Steam, the easiest was just to buy a very cheap base game on sale - I think we paid 4.99. Then when it asked if he had a login, he just logged in with his normal game credentials. He had all his expansion, all his stuff, and all his ESO+.

Great info, thanks. I think the base game is 19.99, I'll wait for it on sale!

I also bought another eso account for 5€ from sale to get steam access. Then I linked my original eso account and it worked fine.

Cant access to the new account I bought though, no idea what happened to it.

Oh and ESO have worked fine in Steam Deck when it launched. Enjoy.

Addons work too if youre wondering. Updating is a bit hard though. But with Google drive (or some other) its doable.
