Why Battlegrounds?

What do people see in Battlegrounds anyway? I've been PVPing for a long time, but until today I'd never tried a Battleground. It's all the things I dislike about ESO PVP, but on acid.

I like it because it’s no CP with procs and 0 PvErs so I know everyone is fair game.

Some hypothetical Pros that distinguish BGs from Cyro:

    1) The objective forces people to play suboptimally, which can make engagements more interesting. This is comparable to siege scenarios, but it has more variety.

    2) You get somewhat balanced (at least numerically) teams to fight in a restricted area with close respawn zones for fast re-entry.

    3) Bonus Rewards

    4) Quick access, jumping right into the action

    Reality:

    1) No-CP really just screws with the CP adjusted builds

    2) The team that is most efficient at ignoring objectives farms the rest, possibly to the point of map domination and winning the objective by ignoring the objective

    3) You are trapped in close quarters with much stronger enemies because you got the bad team this time

    4) Gankers and kill stealers just kill the mood, because they didn't deserve all those last hits (you wouldn't care in cyro because there are no stats)

    5) You afk on the rez pad, but the dominating team is not interested in finishing the objective - one pair of "Coward's Gloves" was surely worth those 13 minutes of your live

I like battlegrounds as a medium to test builds, No CP is my ideal place to test builds because you're heavily nerfed without CP so I get a better understanding what my build lacks and also it's quick to get into a fight, you don't have to play mount sim to get to a fight because the arena is very condensed.

I used to play NoCP for 2 years and no cp is generally the most fun to me but it's been dead in recent years and BGs have been kind of a replacement for that for me, without the emptiness of Cyro map

At least for me, the lag is noticeably less in BG's. It's very difficult to play at your best with lag in Cyrodiil. Not being able to react to the incoming damage in time effectively lowers your overall sustain (due to the need to heal more) and makes some offensive burst unrecoverable.

Break free not working and getting hit with a direct damage attack mid dodge roll are other examples.

I have not been in a single Battleground because I don't want to gimp a team. I might be able to help sometimes in Cyrodiil, but I would almost certainly be constantly dead in a Battleground. I would see that as almost as bad as simply going AFK, so why drag others down?

I never have found a good Pet Sorc PvP build either. Someone posted their guess in the forums recently, but it is not a true Pet Sorc.

I prefer Battlegrounds because they offer a more structured and balanced PvP experience. BGs provide a level playing field where teams are (usually) the same size, and the environment is as fair as you can get. Open-world PvP often feels chaotic, with uneven fights, which can take away from the enjoyment. Additionally, BGs are quick—usually lasting just 10-15 minutes—so I can hop in, enjoy the competition, and still get back to other things, whether it's in-game activities or real life commitments.

    What do I see

In cyro: PvD + ball groups + lag
In imp city: Gank or be ganked, there is no fun.
In Duels: it's just flexing and ego stroking.
    In ToT: Bruh......
In BG: fustercluck of chaos in small scale with objectives and no lag, meaning anyone can contribute to winning, shame the upcoming changes are going to strip that identity from it via the lives system

    Why battlegrounds? Because ZOS can.

Why not open world PvP? [fill in the blanks for 1 point]
Please stop making requests for game features. ZOS have enough bad ideas as it is!

@frethopper I am just curious how do you play Cyro or IC? Can you share it with us and I will tell you why you should play BGs?

For me is clear that right now, no more than 4 people can go vs me, even in the 3 match if it is 4 VS 4 vs me, it is still not 8 vs 1. Based on this information you can prepare a build with one variable that is not infinite.

Another very important thing is that there is no lag.

Also I dont have to predict by checking the map where I can find a fight that might be somehow balanced.
    Because I can!

It's an easy way to level up your assault and support skill lines and gain some rewards while taking no damage to your armor.

It's like a holodeck training simulation within the game.

No lags. No ball groups, heavy healers, or kiters – this gameplay is pointless here. This is no CP with proc sets.

Any type of BG with lives will be another reason for me to never try it. I would surely get killed the max times and then my team would be down 1 player. Not that I would be likely to be much help without that, but it is another stupid limit.

A few people like them. I don't bit it doesn't really matter I'd it's this or more card games. Disappointed that a pvp update happens and Cyrodiil still goes untouched but someone else is probably happy

Zos is consistently giving us what we don't want : GLS, nb buffs, arctic blast, piercing cold and now the bg update.
We have to use reverse psychology !

Please zos, add more lag to cyrodiil. While you're at it, I only got a 10/1 kd on my magsorc while having a hand tied behind my back and watching a movie : please buff magsorc. I also got killed by a necro, blastbones is too strong, nerf it to the ground.

I like them because they're short and fast paced, and convenient for playing solo. I don't have to lfg to play, just q. And because no cp, I don't have to screw with my pve setup, just put on different gear, food, and skills. No-cp cyrodil without mount speed cp is pure misery.

That being said, idk why they felt the need to *** with them, just give us the nice new maps and go spend the rest of that dev time on cyrodil.

And yes the limited lives thing is bs. I hate it in IA and I hate it here too.

I'm a PVE'r who plays Battlegrounds just because I have to for completion sake. Never enjoyed my time with it and I've probably spent hundreds of hours playing matches for the daily XP bonus, motifs, etc. The classes seem horrifically unbalanced. As a stamina DPS Dragonknight everything is always feast or famine - either I slaughter squishy players that lack CC and end up racking dozens of kills, or I get kited by mages for 15 minutes and finish 0/20/14 or something. Nothing about this mode felt good or skill-based.
