That is a one-shot wipe mechanic, iirc. Luminous Eruption happens when a meteor is not killed in time. It is the same mechanic as in Rockgrove.

There are actually many attacks in game that are exempt from Magma Shell’s mitigation. In addition to intentional one-shots, the volatile residue plant poison stacks from the Reef Guardian come to mind. They are not one-shots when stacks are managed, but they ignore Magma.
