So much potential for proper ice-staff-themed DPS. Please reconsider making Ice staves a proper DPS tool like they should have been from the start. Ice staves do not come to mind when you think "tank" but rather, a sword and shield. Give Ice DPS the proper and permanent spot it deserves along side the Pyromancer theme of flame and sorcerer theme of lightning.

Fine, as long as they don't get rid of my not-ice nature wardens. I hate ice magic, never play it, never HAVE played it (and I've played CRPGs since 1985).

I have no objection to them ending the silliness of ice staff tanking, but I do not expect to have the nature side totally removed, and I will be very unhappy if that happens.

i don't think anyone has legitimately asked for the removal of the animal side of things. making the magicka morphs deal frost damage wouldn't do this either. it'd just integrate the themes of the class together as should have been done in the first place.

PvP Wardens are still running the same style builds with 64 hp points, dual wield vamp slash, shalks spin storm combo, and blocky block back bar with Polar Wind spam. They feel a lot more balanced with the vamp 3 change, but the Piercing Cold nerf still destroyed niche Master Ice Staff builds, and nobody is gonna use the unpredictable Arctic Blast.

I get Arctic Blast was super overwhelming (after trying it on live personally I don't hate it as much as I thought I would) but the Ice Staff changes seem so unnecesary imo. They should revert them, literally no one asked to remove dd Ice Mag Wardens

In pvp wardens might be a pain, but in pve warden dds need love. Both the animal and frost ones.
Nerf to the passive was unneccessary. If the ice warden was standing out above the non-ice, buff the latter. Class that is already underwhelming don't need it's options cut down to the lowest common denominator...

Forcing ice staff on the class nuked most of the interesting builds, shoehorning the class into few mediocre support builds. I’m glad it’s finally gone.
Im looking forward to playing double inferno on my magicka warden again, probably not BIS parsing meta but strong enough for all content including trifectas.
Also, I can finally revive my stamina warden, who was dead for I don’t remember how many patches.

Only real issue is that the Warden is STILL, somewhat, shackled to the ice staff.... you don't really have any ice spammable, and the "new and improved" version of Piercing cold only works for 6 seconds after casting frost damage - mind you, it does go off of any frost damage, and can be activated every 4 seconds, so can go off of a frost DOT - if the opponent stays in it - but is still best activated by frost staff.

If you want to fight ranged, it is going to be primarily frost staff.... although you CAN use the frost damage centered on you, and go melee....

In my opinion, it's one extra mechanic, that is unnecessary, especially when you look at Sorcs with their bonuses to lightning, Dragon Knights with their bonus to flame and poison, and templars with the Balanced Warrior giving 6% bonus damage.

This change has also made me think. Since we play PvE and PvP in separate enviroments already... why not separate the skills, passives, gear... etc too? Gw2 got that absolutely right, and all of this tweaking and messing and pissing the player base of either side off, could be spared if they did a big ass rework and separated everything. Only downside I see is newer players being confused abt that... then I remember PvP and PvE in this game plays like entirely different games (Build wise, positioning wise, etc), and don't really think that will be much of a downside.

My guess is because ZOS does not want to spend the time doing such. Devoting resources to the PvP team doesn't seem like a high priority to ZOS anyway. So they choose this-one-size-fits-all approach which makes neither the PvPers or PvEers happy. It is not a whole lot better in WoW but at least their PvP-only talents help to separate the two environments a bit and they do more frequent balancing. But that is easier to do when your game exists on a conveyor belt where the gear is reset every 6-8 months and your character is reset every 2 years and going forward, allegedly, sooner.

Ah yes, ex-Frost Wardens now get assimilated into the DW Borg like every other class has. Amazing class flavor.
