I don't think that word means what you think it means...
The best evidence we have is that ZOS did exactly this during the anniversary event - 5 super rare style pages that you earned by grinding specific activities. That grind seriously drove a lot of people away from the game, and - as people on the forums are keen to point out - the game population has been struggling since then.
Doing exactly that was one of the worst decisions that this game ever made and I hope they never again force people to grind like that for unsellable things with a 0.01% drop rate.

Oh, well in this case. There are some. But as no one knows about them, we can't tell what it is.Kelenan7368 wrote: »I think you misunderstand, I am suggesting random drop that no one knows about. Just extremely rare things you cant get any other way. I don't want to grind for things but hey I just opened this chest and look! This random mob or boss dropped this!
Never make it known to anyone, just a random rare occurrence.

So something that nobody knows about until someone gets it and puts it on reddit. At which point people will know about it.
(and this is assuming that it's not datamined and people know about it before, which they would)
And you think that in ESO, a game whose playerbase has been shown to caregreatly about cosmetics, people would say "meh, I don't care about this one." This game's playerbase has proven countless times that they are very interested in grinding cosmetics. I'm still disappointed that they're hiding useable cosmetics like personalities behind hard achievements (and I say this as someone who has all but three dungeon trifectas) because that's essentially barring RP shenanigans behind sweaty PvE stuff. I am vehemently opposed to blocking cosmetics behind anything annoying.
No, what's going to happen is that people will find out, and then people will start grinding like mad and not get it, and then get frustrated and leave the game. Which is what we were seeing happen during the anniversary event. You want to do the same thing and make it worse?!?!?

Why would the average player enjoy this? If it's as rare as you suggest the average player will never see any of this.Kelenan7368 wrote: »tomofhyrule wrote: »Kelenan7368 wrote: »tomofhyrule wrote: »Kelenan7368 wrote: »fun

I don't agree with your opinion that people cant have fun without crying and rage quitting. I really think the average player would enjoy this. But hey you can't please everyone. There will always be the spoiled brats that can't be pleased or happy about anything
No, thank you. The Banner of the Sixth House and the Velothi Tryptichs are rare enough (I'm quite sure I'll never get them because of that).

Sixth House banner got a significant increase in drop rate a few months ago and is now quite easy to get.

I don't see people grinding for the Aetheric Cipher. And it's exactly the type of super rare drop the OP is talking about. And it's even better than a style item.

Really? Thank you! Then I'll give it a try.

What is this fascination you have with wanting ZOS to do things and not inform the players about it?Kelenan7368 wrote: »I think you misunderstand, I am suggesting random drop that no one knows about.
Yes why not?
But adding super rare items will just make people go on forum and be upset about it, and those Who actually enjoy to grind for rare items are not heard and useally not talking about it in forum for diffrent reasons..
TTC has three pages of it for sale on PC/NA, ranging from 10k to 80k or so. Quite a drop from 15million+.
