scribing skills and armory slot

when is this feature going to become a thing i.e. scribing combo skills getting saved into an armory slot? Especially now that some scribing skills are becoming kind of meta, it feels really hard for people that have multiple armory slots like me , often i have dps healer and tank pve slots on the same character. is this ever going to happen or should i just give up on scribing?

    I think it is likely bound to happen at some point, but right now is probably too soon.
    To be able to do what you ask you need a good amount of Inks, which people are complaining have low drops. In the scenario you describe, if you swap build you have to reapply Inks, and that's something someone just dipping his toes in the system wouldn't want.
    I now have enough Inks to appreciate your idea, but honestly I also really appreciated the fact I could use my first 3 Inks one time and have them on every armory build without any further cost.

    So I think it will happen eventually, but at least for now that the system is in its infancy, can't see it appealing for new scribers... Maybe when Inks prices and drops will be better!

    well no, obviously i don't want my inks to be consumed when i swap build! the skills should just swap without my inks being consumed...

    Yeah, what I meant is that... Make this case:
    You are brand new scriber and already have 5 saved builds; you want to modify them all, adding the exact same scribed skill to every build.
    As things are live right now, you use 3 Inks and you can equip that skill on all 5 builds.
    If it was as you requested, when you swap from build 1 to build 2 you have to consume another 3 Inks to recreate the same skill and apply to the second build. For a total of 15 Inks.

    If you want to save different scribed skills on each build this automatically exclude the possibility to keep previously crafted skills when swapping. Hence why I think it is needed but I'm ok with the devs not having implemented it from the start - players would have got more pissed, I imagine.
    I hope I explained myself... :)

    Edit: I don't mean EVERY time you'd swap build you'd pay Inks, just the first time you'd want to save a new build, even if the skill is the same.

    The armory should save scribed skills just like it does with regular skills, and without the need to pay ink when swapping between saved builds.

    We don't have to pay gold to change attributes, regular skills + morphs, champion points, etc. every time that we swap between saved armory builds. So why should we have to pay ink every time that we swap between saved armory builds containing different scribed skills...

    For example:
    • First, while making a DPS build: you go to the scribing altar and pay ink to scribe the grimoire "Wield Soul" with the scripts "Magic Damage", "Lingering Torment", and "Breach", and this creates the scribed skill called "Magical Soul". Then you go to the armory and save the DPS build with "Magical Soul" equipped.
    • Next, while making a Tank build: you go to the scribing altar and pay ink to scribe the same grimoire "Wield Soul" but change the scripts to "Pull", "Druid's Resurgence", and "Cowardice", and this now creates the scribed skill called "Leashing Soul". Then you go to the armory and save the Tank build with "Leashing Soul" equipped.
    • Finally, now that the builds with their own scribed skills (that you already paid ink to scribe) are saved in the armory, you should be able to just load each build from the armory with its own saved scribe skill and without needing to pay ink again.

    Honestly, the scribing system as it is currently is just a mess. The grimoires and scripts should have been account-wide, and it should have never costed a special rare resource just to scribe different skills.

    I'm not saying you pay each time you swap build! Then, once saved, I won't pay anymore. Until the day I want to change that scribed skill again on all my 10 builds and I'll have to pay another 30 Inks.

    Luminous Ink is a terrible mechanic and has already done its damage.

    If things were more logical, then Ink wouldn’t even exist. And if Ink has to exist, they would at least allow selected affixes to be permanently unlocked once an ability has been created with them.
    This solves all issues with Ink and The Armory being incompatible.

    But this is the game which also has a 30 FPS cap on menus in a game full of menus. Not because of performance, but because ESO is trying to save the environment….. I don’t expect good decisions to be made here.

    I'm not saying you pay each time you swap build! But if I'll want the exact same scribed skill on 10 armory builds I'll have to consume 30 Inks THE FIRST TIME to re-scribe the exact same skill on every different build. Then, once saved, I won't pay anymore. Until the day I want to change that scribed skill again on all my 10 builds and I'll have to pay another 30 Inks.

    Well, the Scribing Altar already remembers the skill combinations that have been scribed in its "Archive." And changing between archived skills should not cost anything because we've already paid to scribe those skills. I know that's not how the system currently works (being able to freely change between archived skills), but that is how it should work especially since everything is per-character instead of account-wide.

    Like I said before, the whole scribing system is a mess... It's almost like someone had a really good idea with the system. But then someone else got their hands on it, took a massive dump on it, and managed to make it worse than what it could have been... The system is not very player-friendly at all in its current form, and it was just made in a way to extend our playtime.

    The scribing system is like a big juicy steak that players have been wanting for years. They finally gave us that steak, but instead of meat it's mostly just fat and bone...

    It has to be convoluted or else players would too easily see how boring it really is. ZOS tells us there are thousands of ability combinations, but not that 99% of them are completely useless. They just want to artificially extend our ESO playtime through boring Dailies grinding for useless scripts.

    All of these Scribed abilities could have just been brand new abilities added onto each respective skill line with their two morphs each, and they would all serve the same purpose in nearly all scenarios. This would not have let them sell new OP abilities to us in future DLC though.

    iirc they said that it was intended and would come, but they wanted to get Scribing out first.

    I'd imagine we'll get it eventually. Remember that the original Armory didn't have Mundus saved either, and that was added once they managed to get the bugs out of that one. They probably need to iron out some Armory/Scribing issues before rolling that out.

    I didn't think about this possibility and honestly it sounds like a really good idea to me! Would be cool, I agree.

    Scribing just seems poorly thought out. For major feature you would expected that saving the skill in the armory would have been obvious!

    Then again they are not really skills in the same way as the original skills. For instance if you click on a scribed skill while reassigning skill points at the Struh alter you get an error dump. No error message just the code dump. It's a bug, a minor one, but still it indicates a lack of full testing and a well thought out process.

    TBH I hadn't thought so before but Gold Road does seem the product of a company shifting resources elsewhere.
