I don't resort to that very often.
I have done so a couple of times, but I tend to craft furnishings more often than not when we get the other endeavors to
'Craft X Items with the Y Skill,' and the things I craft have this particular endeavor in mind, so that I have stuff to place when it rolls back around.

For me it's based on whichever character I log in to first to do the endeavor. My different characters have different furnishing items that they always carry; for example, my ayleid researcher uses welkynd stones, my necromancer uses skeleton arm sconces.

I just press f5, pick retrieve, retrieve 7 items and then press undo 7 times.

Simple, fast, can even be done with no issues in fully decorated houses! 🙂

Edit:- Retrieve is done with right click on item, I have undo bound to Z.

If I'm not planning to "seriously" decorate or build something anyway, I just throw undaunted trophies on the ground and pick them up again. As collection items, they don't clutter the inventory after pick-up.

I generally port a low-level character into the inn room at Vulkhel Guard, and do the business with a candlestick that's on a table. Then I go out and train with the stablemaster before using the wayshrine to head back to wherever I'd come from.

That's pretty much what I used to do until I found out that there was Redo button as well as an Undo button. Now I just pick up that one apple and press Undo, Redo, Undo, Redo, and so on until the seals pop up :).

Same here. The low number of item slots means I have to pop over to one of my bigger houses to do it though, my littler ones have all those slots filled. 😕

I just pick up however many furnishings are needed then Z until they are all back in place. I don't have any furnishings just for this purpose.

I've also found that just moving a furnishing doesn't count. It has to either be a new furnishing being placed or one that has been completely removed then replaced.

I sometimes stack chairs like in Kogoruhn ("The chairs! The tables! All confused! We hear the words, and must speak them. We take them, and arrange them, but still, they will not be quiet!"), but only if Voryn is whispering to me again I'm in a good mood.

I actually completed this endeavour by accident because I went to place some of the new antiquities I had dug up, as well as some duplicates in my "storage" house to clear up inventory space.

I have alts with furniture items in their inventories as well, so next time I'll just place those.

Whatever is in the Bank is first priority and that stuff almost always goes to Coldharbour Surreal Storage. I have an alt account which doesn't have many furnishings acquired (or houses, for that matter), so that one uses what it has (several fish, a couple of Crown Store statuettes, and the Armory Station).
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.
