Antiquity Improvement

I was thinking that in order to incentivize the most efficient use of one's scrying abilities, and so add to the challenge if desired, particularly once one has improved all their scrying passives, that it would be nice if when one finishes their scrying, that any left over turns of scrying would add to the time you are allotted for Excavation.

In this way one could decide to either just face roll their scrying without caring how many turns it takes (having way more than enough to get the job done), OR they could be more careful and still try to scry with the fewest turns they can in order to maximize excavation time. This would be especially helpful for higher end Antiquities.

If you think that this is a flaw with the current game design, as in not 'working as intended'; then I suggest you log a support ticket for the problem. That way, the potential flaw will be formally reviewed and if necessary, queued for action.

OP is suggesting a change to the way it should work.

They are saying that if you use fewer guesses to find the item then the excess guesses should be converted into more time to uncover it and the bonus items.

    Correct. You summarized it well.

It would be an optional thing a person could do to provide them with additional excavation time (turns). With all your Scrying passives you don't even really need to try in order to get all the nodes. However with this proposed mechanic if you want to have extra time for excavating, it would still be advantageous to use the least number of turns while scrying, therefore you'd want to be more thoughtful while doing it.

I guess that would be great for some people. Personally, I only scry on characters at level 10 scrying, and as far as excavation, I really have very little use for the bonus items. Kind of like not having much use for the Wet Gunny Sack items from fishing. Mostly useless stuff.

It's an interesting idea at lower scrying/excavating levels, but not horribly useful in the late-game. Once you're up to Level 10 for Scrying, you'll almost never use all the turns you have available to scry, even on Ultimate leads. Excavating is a tad more tricky for the Ultimate leads and I think I've failed excavating once or maybe twice in the past year by damaging the antiquity (not because of lack of time), but I just find the new dig site and try again. The bonus loot is pretty (edit: "boring" because ZOS' filters have problems with a two-letter prefix to -hum) stuff and it's not like I really need more Indeko, more style mats, or another piece of gear to decon, so extra time for excavating doesn't really get me anything I want. Change the bonus rewards and I'll reconsider, but the excavation timer isn't a problem.

I wouldn't like this as it would probably end up tying the character who scried the lead to the lead itself making them be the one who has to excavate it. It's also extra information that needs stored on the servers if you don't excavate right away so I doubt it would happen tbh

I level up my alts' antiquities (for the chest passive) by scrying purple and golds leads on my main and digging on the alts. Makes for a much faster levelling.

I agree that bonus loot could certainly be better. More valuable or interesting to make it worth trying to get. I still try to get all the bonus loot anyhow just because it's part of the challenge. Still I wouldn't mind putting more of that challenge on the scrying part to get more turns for excavating.
