Term limits for emperor? (Ignore this thread... Ideas never pan out...)

Personally, I think there should be some kind of control to limit the same person from being emperor over and over.
Once they get to be emperor, it so much easier to gain AP to keep the lead ahead of the next candidate.
Time to have new blood and share the fun.
(Edit)
Seems this was a bad idea. Ignore it.
I give up on suppling ideas. Tough crowd.

If ineligible for emperor, they still can show at the top of the campaign lists. Just with an asterisk to show they are not eligible

I don't like allowing a person to be emperor only once or twice during a campaign. What if your faction lost emperor before you were able to log in and play?

I could maybe see limiting it to something like 5-10 days. Then it's guaranteed that each campaign will cycle through 3-6 emperors but each individual emperor would be able to enjoy it.

You can't get or maintain emperor without incredible time investments. Basically anyone who has any other obligations in life does not have enough time to become emp.

Emp is earned. If they want to abandon camp and make room for someone with less AP take the slot, then that's up to them.

Allow Emperor multiple times per campaign, BUT, only allow it multiple times if the would be multiple time Emperor abandons campaign and starts from 0 again.

There's no reason for there to be a term limit. Term limits are for democracies. The main benefit of democracy is that it can help avoid a violent transition of power. Cyrodiil is all about violent transitions of power!

Emp shouldn't be a given, it should always be taken. It definitely shouldn't be "I surfed the zerg for 12 hours a day and now it's my turn!"

I didn't vote because of your biased options. "The same maybe 100 people that play PVP at the top continue to rule."

I have no aspirations of being EMP. I'm not committed to doing it. (Time + effort + skill.)

I feel sorry for those who do spend time chasing this and have yet to achieve it.
But that is not me.... lol

I voted to allow emp twice per campaign cycle. Twice just in case you miss your chance to play as emp the first time.
How many different emps could that possibly be per cycle anyway?
    Maybe 5?
Odds are, those 5 are all really good. I don't see the harm.

    New idea:
Allow someone in the top 5 to challenge the current emp.
Emp can refute claim, thus ending the challenge.

PVP emperor fight takes place between the two in the safe zone. Just like a duel.
    No emp powers allowed.

As an incentive to fight, current emperor gets a major reward for a win.
This could be a mechanism to allow transfers of emp, without loosing emp on the winning side. No abdication needed.

I dont think emperors should necessarily be limited, but it is frustrating when a booster takes emp and holds it all camp for 'mY SiCk BoMb MoNtAgE WaTcH mY YoUtUbE" while other people actually pushed (And boosting should probably be a whole different discussion, but it would need ZOS to actually look at PVP, so we can all just LOL about this idea). I dont play tons anymore, but the number of times I was actively pushing the start of a camp but stayed second or third an entire campaign because a booster with 4x anyone elses score at the top is infuriating lol.

However, I think a fair middle ground would a cooldown, maybe 3 days, that a player cant be renamed emperor. The second place/third place/whoever is next in line after everyone who is on cooldown gets named emp in the event of a re-emp. It allows people to still work toward emp title, not feel cheated by a booster, and not have efforts wasted grinding for emp only to have someone stay just ahead the entire camp, while still giving those who push for emp and hold the top the ability to repeatedly be emp. Cooldown could be adjusted, 3 days I think is fine, but im sure theres situations where that may not be best. Theres obviously arguments to be made for every response here. But this would let everyone who worked toward it get it in time, or at least have a shot of getting it.

Quite a few. Quite a few noob emps, too. Always have been. So when you do get a good player on it, you want them to keep it of course.

    OTHER:

Create two leaderboards. A generic campaign leaderboard that is a true reflection of one's campaign ranking and a separate emperor leaderboard.

When one becomes emperor and is dethroned, they are placed at the bottom of the emperor leaderboard and will essentially have to start over at 0 AP earned. However, this does not affect their place on the regular campaign leaderboard (still in the running to get gold/purple campaign rewards). Also if they happen to get back to the top of the emperor leaderboard, they have the opportunity to become emperor once again.

IMHO this would incentivise the AP grind for people who assume they'll never be at the top and will incentivise factions to continuously push for emperor.

    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

I'm not sure if there was any sarcasm in there, but that is basically the only way I'll probably ever be Emperor! I think I got up to a ranking of 209 at one point during last month's campaign, which was definitely a lifetime high for me. :)

And honestly, if I never get to be Emperor before the ESO servers are sunset (hopefully not for many more years), it will be okay with me.

There was another system I can think of in another game. In it you accrued points while playing, but built into the calculation was a degradation of your rank. It didn't work either. The people who pvp a lot still get to the top, and casuals can't.

I made peace with that back in the arcade days when you were allowed to put your initials on the top score if you played well enough.

Well I have the empress title from years ago. I agree that a player should only have it once during a campaign. People get sick of seeing the same player as emp. I don't even help push sometimes. We had a new one a few weeks back and everyone was excited for them and really helped.
