I don't understand this. It requires a 2H weapon and does not count a staff as such. But it uses Magicka as its resource.
You wouldn't use a Magicka based weapon on a Stamina character nor a Stamina type weapon on a Magicka character. Stamina characters won't have enough Magicka sustain, and who would want an entire bar taken up with a Stamina weapon on a Magicka character?
What am I missing here? Seems this ability needs a resource change or staffs need to count as a 2H weapon.

You chose magic damage, if you don't want to use Magicka use a different type of damage.Antiquities Addict4 -

✭Ok so this was my not fully understanding this system. The only thing I could add to it was magical damage and I have a lot of these scripts but clearly not enough.
This makes me say, however, why can't a staff use this? It IS a 2H weapon. I use staffs in my martial arts and we certainly do not use them with one hand. How awesome it would be to have a close quarter strike for a magic dealer like that! When something runs up in our face BAM with the staff.

2 handed is for greatswords, battle axes, and mauls.

The Contingency grimoire from the Mages Guild can do a point blank AoE which is even better, it doesn't fire until the next thing you do which costs resources, which can be a skill or dodge roll or whatever. It's even better, though it has somewhat different script options than Smash.0
