Bot disruption Proposal

Could there be some sort of bot detection or afk disruption where it'd be a minor inconvenience for a player, but be a disaster for a user that's botting?

Like say you have those bots that afk farm in like groupsnof 12 or so running in a circle pulling enemies and killing them with either sorc pets or the other storm ability. Make it so if it detects farming, a super version of the mob being farmed where bots would have a hard if not impossible time killing it, but a user player that's actually playing could.

And to deal with the Crafting Node bots, if it detects there, it'd teleport the user tova random area of the map and disorient the screen. Which, again, would be a minor inconvenience for an actual player, but ruin the scripts of the bot account.

That's just my thought....

While there must be anti-bot tactics that have to be kept quiet so they can't be exploited, there are a few we can see. One is a cooldown on boss loot--that's why you don't see bots farming public dungeons (I usually see them overland).

Limiting or punishing players who are earnestly farming would feel pretty bad. It might feel like a minor timeloss on paper to be randomly teleported, for example, but it would in practice be pretty frustrating and upset people.

I do sort of like the idea of a special enemy being summoned that can 1-shot a bot but not a player--but it would also kill some players, and the bots have programming to walk back to their route if they die. I assume this because I once pulled an entire chain of bots off their route into a dolmen so they died over and over. Top 10 moments in the game for me lol, but it probably barely made a dent in their income.

Plus ... if the bots are slightly reducing mat prices for the rest of us ...

I dunno, with how low the ink drop rate is I am beginning to think bots may be the intended way to play this game. /sarcasm.

I remember when ZOS added new PvE DPS mythic lead to Shadowfen plants... those were all camped by actual players. Same with Murkmire Savebox lead. All was camped. Or that one lead that spawns in Nighthollow keep. So, in an event of something like this being introduced again, I can clearly see this system being exploited by guilds & groups if stuff like this was introduced.

Yeah, cuz bots for the most part do help to bring the market prices down to acceptable level. No one wants to admit it as... boting in general is not fair and I do agree with that - it is not fair - but the rng drop rate of said "ink" for example is not ok and not fair either.
