Server disconnecting when playing ESO is a critical problem and getting worse

It's past time ZOS put a special team together devoted solely to fixing the rampant server disconnecting issues in ESO. Never in the history of online gaming has there been a game with this prolific of an issue with server disconnects, at least not that I'm aware of. This has been bad for close to a year now, and it's getting worse. The release of gold road coincided with a very noticeable increase in the number of disconnects I'm enduring. And judging by the many forum posts about it, it's not just me.

Please ZOS, please hire a specialist or put at least one employee on this problem full time to try and get this resolved. This is totally out of hand and getting worse.

Today I was running a baby toon through Moongrave Fane and on last boss got disconnected and couldn't get back in quick enough. So didn't get the bonus XP or the skill point for completing the dungeon. This happens at least once for, on average, about every 2 hours of play time. That is an off the charts high frequency of disconnects for an online game to be experiencing. It doesn't matter what you are doing in ESO, about every 2 hours of play time we are getting disconnected from server.

This issue needs some special attention beginning six months ago.

Is this always happening (to you and others) in the same type of content? If so, what type of content? Which platform and server are you all on, and are you all playing from the same part of the world? ISP?

I know you said it doesn't matter what you're doing, but disconnections every two hours anywhere in the game don't sound like a server issue, especially as even if others are reporting the same thing it's only a tiny minority of players or the forums would be ablaze. More players may be experiencing performance issues generally but 2 hourly disconnections are very rare and establishing any common denominators would be incredibly useful to ZOS as it's the kind of problem they are likely to have great difficulty recreating which is key to finding a cause.

There's a large difference between systemic server issue and connection issues. The last big systemic server issue we had was the day when certain zones were absolutely knackered and it seemed like 95% of the population couldn't go to Vvardenfell, Imperial City or Grahtwood. It was unexplainable outside of an actual server issue, which it was.

If you're experiencing disconnects with regularity that a multitude, and i don't mean your local echo chamber, of others aren't then it's most likely something on your end or in between you and the servers. But if there are players who can play for hours and hours on end without disconnects daily while you are being disconnected, this is most likely not a systemic issue.

I'm filling out the form and telling ZOS what I'm doing when I get disconnected. What I didn't post above was that I got disconnected again while logging off after getting back on. That one actually made me LOL.

I've never played an online game that has this prolific of an issue with disconnecting from the game server. Never.

And I don't have any problems with being disconnected from the game server when playing other games either.

Literally on the last phase of Vet Vateshran Hollow final boss. Trying to get my first clear. The game screen freezes from all the animations happening and for a minute I think my PS5 has bricked.

And then I get this:



It’s not my Internet. This happens a frustrating number of times when there’s 8 billion animations happening. Fix your game.

Woooooow I just got to final phase of that fight AGAIN. This time, instead of being booted to main screen with an error code, all the enemies stopped moving and spells stopped working, then I was booted back to character select screen.

Seems like MYM will be fun. Got to spend 10 seconds in Cyrodiil, and about 30 seconds in Stormhaven before being booted on 2 different characters on PC/NA. Let's see what try number 3 brings...

The problem is much improved since Thursday's launch of the event, but the disconnecting is still a very significant issue.
