Need a new sound for when you have a fish bite

Please, ZOS, can you change the 'sound' of when a fish bites, to something louder/more noticeable, please? You can't turn your head or close your eyes or anything without potentially missing getting a fish when it bites if you're not paying razor attention.

for fishing i would heavily recommend votans fisherman addon, can customize the sound effect being used, but it only uses sound effects that are already built into the game
    plays PC/NA
    handle @Necrotech_Master
    active player since april 2014

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

I agree. This should be an activity that people can do in the background while talking to guild mates and the like. The current sound is so quiet, I didn't even realize until now that there was one. I am on console, so no add-ons aren't a solution for me.

personally i would prefer if fishing just "auto reeled in" and acted similar to other material node harvesting instead of playing the what i view as a pointless waiting game, i would actually fish a lot more if this was an option because i do find it relaxing, but not when i still have to hit a button to reel in

it can still do the cast, and the waiting, but i wish we had an option to auto reel, which would work for both PC and console

I personally would love this as well.

For me, this type of fishing minigame is rather pointless. Other games that had fishing mini-games tended to either make it so the 'better' your cast/ability to hit 'reel' when the fish bit, the better the loot, or just a general interactive mini-game.

this, you just sit there and then hit reel.

    hahaha yes!

There is a very, very faint sound of water splashing.
In another game that ZOS does not permit speaking about, when you get a fish biting there is a loud, fishing line reeling sound, that you can't miss. Would be great if this game had something similar, at the very least, or MUCH louder and emphasized splashing ot something.

The controller vibrates a lot and the pole bends. I don’t hear any sound but I’m old. I can barely hear the nirnroots now.

I've no problem with additional options for the sound effect, but I'd be unlikely to use any of them. I enjoy fishing, but prefer to keep an eye on what's going on rather than focusing on other things and only looking up when I'm alerted to a catch. Relaxation while fishing is the whole point of it for me. As someone once said, people go to work when they don't know how to fish.

This, I respond to the controller vibration. You get a brief buzz at a strike (but not a hook), then a steady vibration when it's hooked and you need to reel in.

However, many people turn their vibration off, so I understand missing that cue.

    You're not alone. <shrug>

Then too, I've seen mention that lockpicking has a rumble sound when you hit the sweet-spot. Which I haven't heard either.

Same, and when I fished tonight, I listened for "the sound" and didn't hear anything. Bizarre.

And that is the problem. I couldn't find a "loud" on to use on my PC account. The console does not have that. Far too easy to miss the catch thing.

Having to DO NOTHING but stare at the screen is not compelling gameplay!

Lockpicking on console needs to be like it is with the addon on the PC - turning green when the pins are in the right place. I have gotten reasonable on the console, but it remains a pain there since the wiggle and haptic feedback are subpar!

i think the best one i found was the "ding" noise, but i agree it doesnt help consoles out either

honestly i think it should be an option in the game settings then i wouldnt need the addon in the first place lol

Khajiit thinks it should kick into Yakety Sax when the bite happens.

Yeah it's a pain in the butt having to stare at the screen to see when the lure/etc. is ready for you to interact.

Also I play on PC using the official launcher (no steam) and use the Gamepad UI with an official Xbox One controller. And the controller vibration when fishing and lock picking is not very good feedback...

In most games, the vibration is used as feedback to let you know when something is happening and when you need to interact. But in ESO these things vibrate almost the whole time, instead of only when you need to interact.

While the vibration should be something like "brrr, brrr, brrr, BRRR", it usually instead goes something like "brrr, brrrrrr, BRRR, brrrrrr, brrr, brrr, BRRR, brrrrrr, BRRR" I've broken many lures because I wasn't staring at the screen and instead reacted based on the vibration... :D

    Edit:
I also wanted to point out the fact that in real life you don't need sight or hearing to catch a fish with a fishing pole, it can be done purely by touch. And people don't use their sight to crack safes either, they do it by touch and sound. So since ESO takes place in a fictional world with magic and stuff, we shouldn't be dependent on sight to be able to do trivial things like fishing and lock picking.

I agree! I have shorted many attempts far too early when I tried to go off vibration feedback. It was completely unreliable!
