Long Loading Screens Since Gold Road Patch

Is there some new anti cheat thing going on now? It is now taking 20-30 seconds for the game to load into the character screen after I log in. Did the usual network checking and still have my 3ms time.

Post-patch loading screens tend to be longer at first, probably because the game is making new cache files somewhere on your PC.

I've logged in several times, same issues. I really hope this stops soon. Never had this happen trying to log into the game.

Yeah still have this issue. Removed the shader file so it could build a new one and it is still taking over 20 seconds after I log in to get into the game. I know not a huge amount of time but before the patch it was 2-3 seconds at most.

There's another thread about this. Some people are experiencing it, some aren't. I'm experiencing it. It's the transition between logging in (the client accepts your userid and password) and the character screen that takes longer than it used to. Not a big deal because it still only takes about 15-20 seconds, but it used to take less than 5s. Transitioning between zones in-game isn't taking longer.

My experience is the same. No biggie but it is different.

After every patch ShaderCache.cooked (DRIVE_LETTER:\Users\USER_NAME\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\) should patcher delete and game will create new when you launch the game. That SHOULD be only one long loading screen to Character Select screen.
Sometimes patcher don't delete or mess that file and after you can have some issues.

Btw I have occasionaly long loading screens. But, when you logging in, you connecting to Login Server so it can be overloaded with login requests.

You have now new chapter with new Scribing, so there is plenty of players. I have longer loading screens after login in the prime time.

Exactly this! Even on an extremely high-spec computer it is noticeable that this particular loading screen is taking longer than before the U42 release.

Totally get what you mean about it being easy to notice when weird things happen due to the sheer power of the base rig!

So something I have tested for a while since this long loading screen at login started. The time between when I log in and get into the character selection menu is 3-4 seconds ONLY IF I log in BEFORE 7AM CST. This is how it use to be before 6/3/24.

If I log in any time after that I have the long wait between login and character selection screen.

So this issues is probably not a cache issue..sigh...

You can find troubleshooting in our FAQ below to help with infinite loading issues.

What do I do if I can login and select my character, but then get stuck on an infinite loading screen?

@ZOS_Bill Thanks for the link. I will give this a shot. The only long loading screen I have is after I enter my login trying to get into the game. Didn't use to have this issue until the update on 6/3.

    I don't use addons, never have. :)
