Toxic housing rankings before improving pvp ranking grind

So, ZOS has decided to bless us with a popularity contest for housing before any meaningful improvements are made to the pvp ranking grind. I feel like a change to the pvp rankings would be much better received than this recommendation feature for housing.

Do pvpers deserve something a baby bit more engaging and rewarding than accumulated points, maybe something similar to the system used in Tales of Tribute for Battlegrounds? A ranking system that reflects actual skill, or at least strategy/tactics/build setup, rather than just time spent grinding, would be a great improvement.

The Quarter 4 update is focused on PvP. Quarter 3 comes first because it's for small, quality of life changes. You don't close out the year during the holiday season with bug fixing and quality of life changes.

There is no ranking grind in PvP. You enjoy PvP and the ranks just happen.

And exactly how would they go about designing a ranking system that reflects skill in Cyrodiil? Can't just be kills because that rewards the griefers that sit at quest sites popping the unexpected. Rank by guild would cause the diversity of builds to decrease farther than what it already is as everybody suits up in the best to be a part of the 153 players that tie for first place. Tactics is almost always a group effort and often includes more than one group so no way to rank individuals on that.

OP said in his post rankings for Battlegrounds like they have for ToT.

I could see the benefit of a monthly ranking like Archive, ToT, or arenas for BGs. Would give something to play towards each month. Highest scorers in each game type maybe? Or KD ratios.

How do other arena games handle ladders and scoreboard?

yeah, I misread. I saw "or" instead of "for". Some of my points still stand. A rank that included build would be a disaster. Tactics would also be tough.

I'm really not that interested in having zos develop something for cyrodiil. As you said, it is just way too complicated. I am also not thinking about pvp ranks like to get to grand overlord. I believe I should have been more specific with my language in my original post.

I think it would be pretty easy to have a BG ranking system work like ToT currently where your ranking decreases with losses. If they want to do something better, Elo ranking systems have been around for quite a while, and there are plenty of approaches for zos to choose from in that regard even for games with more than 3 teams. I mentioned strategy, tactics, and build to express that I am not expecting zos to implement something that truly reflects skill. Many would say running 4 tanks in a Chaos Ball match is not skillful, but it does reflect a certain strategy or tactic that can be effective for that game mode.

I doubt my desire would be addressed in Quarter 4. For context, I made my first discussion about this in 2022 when ToT launched. There have been plenty of "pvp focused" updates since then. As a longtime pvper who bought this game at launch for the pvp that was advertised heavily, you will die if you hold your breath for zos to implement a specific feature you want in a future update, one common example are stuck in combat issues.
