Did Script drops get nerfed? (Silent nerfing or new bug?)

When Gold Road was released, the three different scripts dropped from three separate sources.
Each source was a guaranteed curated drop (per source) per toon per day, allowing possibility to get x9 different scripts per toon per day.
After the first source box per toon per day, the subsequent source boxes had a 25% drop chance of an uncurated script.
(This is as per multiple main ESO content creators in YT)

Sources:
Focus scripts = Daily delve reward coffer, rewards for the worthy coffer, Mages Guild daily reward coffer.
Signature scripts = world boss daily reward coffer, cyrodiil (town) daily reward coffer (I.e. Bruma), Fighters Guild daily reward coffer
Affix script = daily incursion reward coffer, imperial city daily siege master coffer, undaunted daily coffer

Each of the script type, if you’ve not got it, stated all x3 sources it could be picked from.

Since patch 2.59/1.41 this is no longer happening.

What I now see is:
- the curated drop is per script type, not per source
- The guaranteed drop is now per account, not per toon
- Some scripts are only available from a single source (usually only mages guild), rather than any of the three sources for the script type


This SIGNIFICANTLY decreases the options to unlock scripts across multiple toons, as well as make script completion a much more horrible grind.

Additionally, it’s a pity none of these changes are mention in the patch notes.

…so now, I can open Mages guild reward coffer on toon 1 and get a guaranteed drop.
I can then login as toon 2 and do the mages guild daily, but when I open the reward coffer, no script.

I'd argue it's a QOL issue. This is one that lowers the quality.

Guaranteed drop has always been account wide, and it resets per day for each source of quests.

This has been the case since day 1 of Gold Road. It's account wide, not per character.

If you open a mages guild reward on one character and then a rewards from the worthy on the same or another character, then you should get 2 scripts. Up to a total of 9 scripts/day from 9 different sources. Unless that's changed very recently, I haven't done any script farming since the patch this Tuesday. It did work last week at least.

Any additional coffer from the same source had a 25% chance of dropping, so RNG. No idea if that changed either.

Lastly, you can also get a random script from running random dungeon daily, that seems to be curated to the character who triggered the email. Not sure if this one works on multiple chars or is per account.

speaking of the scripts and affixes and such, what the hell am I supposed to do with the 30+ already known scripts and affixes sitting in my bank / inventory? Is there really no way to scrap them to another resource? it seems like a huge waste to just delete them instead of forming them into some type of other scrap "currency" or fragment piece like the class mastery achievement.

would've loved it if we could have "shredded" them to pieces to hold at least 50. 100. 200, 500, etc toward either a new skill, skill style, or hell, even an achievement toward a title or something.

Vendor them for gold. They will get a bump in value in U43 to boot.

you teach them to your alts, that'd be the only purpose of putting them in the bank to begin with, yes? if they are bound scripts then your only choice is to use or merchant.

This, scrips are curated for the character but has gotten some duplicates.

I feel I'm missing something here.

To my mind a curated drop should mean that I get an unknown item until I complete the set at which point obviously I'll get duplicates.

However, that's not what I see. I'm only doing the work on my main, it's occupying so much time I don't have time to log into alts, so it should be straightforward... keep doing the tasks, get drops from the rewards, fill up the sets. And yet I'm getting duplicates without having filled the relevant set.

The curation factors in what you've learned and what you have in your current character's inventory. I've been self-curating drops for a few weeks now and this is exactly how it works and how I've been able to fill out specific scripts as I teach all my alts the various scripts. Using this character as an example and Signature Scripts:


They can pull Anchorite's Cruelty and Assassin's Misery from a daily box only, but if they had both scripts in their inventory already it would pull from all Signature scripts except for Druid's, Hunter's, Lingering and Sage's as they come from other sources.

If you get duplicates from a source it's because you have nothing new to collect from that source, but you might still miss some of that type of script because you need to collect some from the Mages Guilds in various locations. Without double checking, I think there's 9 scripts you need to get this way.

You know how you can't get weapons or jewelry from early bosses in a dungeon? Or how you can't get armor from a final boss in a dungeon? How you'll get duplicate armor pieces from early bosses pretty quickly, even while still needing lots of weapons for sticker book? And so on with world bosses and delve bosses and public dungeon bosses all having different pieces they drop? Scripts work the same. You can only get a needed script from a source that actually has that script in its loot table.

And there are more affix scripts that focus scripts and more focus scripts than signature scripts. So even if you do all Guild quest sources each day, you'll start getting duplicate signature scripts even while still needing focus and affix scripts.

I'm still able to get scripts from each source. I noticed no change there.

It's been per account, not per character, since the start. If you were always getting them on a new character as well then you were just very lucky.

I can't 100% say much about the last point, but I do know I've been getting mine finished while usually only doing 2/3 of the sources for each type of script most days. I usually skip mages/fighters/undaunted dailies because I don't feel like doing them, and didn't hit a script I can't get because of that.

They're most likely talking about the Mage's Guild Script Chase specific scripts which require you to go to specific Mage's Guilds across Tamriel and pick them up off the ground/furniture.

• the ones from the scribing intro quest
• class mastery script (after getting your scraps, you have to buy this from the scholarium vendor)

scraps stop dropping as soon as you get the achievement, you can just buy the class mastery script from the scholarium at that point

the scraps? well regardless of which toon you get them on, when used they increment the achievement (as far as im aware thats their only purpose, to increment the associated achievement)

the character which uses the 50th scrap gets class mastery script learned for free, and after that if you wanted the class mastery script on alts you have to buy it from the scholarium vendor (always available)

But I'm only getting the guaranteed Focus Script (Mage's Guild Daily) and Signature Script (Fighter's Guild Daily) on the first character that completes those dailies.

Is this intended? Some people are saying the guaranteed daily Scripts from each source are only once per account per day. So then why have I always been getting an Affix Script on every character that does the Daily Random Dungeon ever since The Gold Road released?

If the guaranteed Script drop from each source is only once per account per day, then I'm not wasting anymore time trying to do the other dailies on all of my alt characters...

Note: I have completed all Scribing quests on my main character and have every Affix, Focus and Signature Script unlocked. Yes, I already knew everything you said. You must've missed where I said I have all Scripts on at least one character, if I have them all then I obviously know where to get them lol... My question was basically why am I getting a guaranteed Affix Script on every character that completes the Daily Random Dungeon, if it's supposed to be only once per source per account per day.

i have no idea, but a 25% chance is fairly high to get extras

to be honest im not sure why your getting affix drops from random dungeons to begin with since i dont remember that being a source for them

if they were intentionally added there, it could be a unique case in the fact that the daily random is once per character anyway, which worked to get multiple script scrap drops, its likely that logic carried over to the affix scripts, again if its intentional

I've done all of the DLC zones delve and world boss dailies in one day, but never got an additional Script to drop after the first guaranteed one. You know, I've felt for years like something is wrong with my main (created at launch) character's RNG, like it's broken or something, so maybe it really is... I also can't remember the last time I had a monster helm style page drop from a Veteran HM Dungeon either, and I've ran some of them 40+ times...

the script drops are curated to the character opening the box or receiving the reward, so ideally you want to open the rewards first on characters that still need scripts

Yes, I already knew everything you said... My question was basically why am I getting a guaranteed Affix Script on every character that completes the Daily Random Dungeon, if it's supposed to be only once per source per account per day.

i have no idea, but a 25% chance is fairly high to get extras

to be honest im not sure why your getting affix drops from random dungeons to begin with since i dont remember that being a source for them

if they were intentionally added there, it could be a unique case in the fact that the daily random is once per character anyway, which worked to get multiple script scrap drops, its likely that logic carried over to the affix scripts, again if its intentional

I've done all of the DLC zones delve and world boss dailies in one day, but never got an additional Script to drop after the first guaranteed one. You know, I've felt for years like something is wrong with my main (created at launch) character's RNG, like it's broken or something, so maybe it really is... I also can't remember the last time I had a monster helm style page drop from a Veteran HM Dungeon either, and I've ran some of them 40+ times...

yeah its not guaranteed for sure, but if you really wanted to make it guaranteed, you could stockpile the boxes and then open 1 per day, theres been days where i have gotten more than 1, or only the 1 guaranteed one

a similar thing happens with rewards of the worthy, the uncracked transmute geode is guaranteed from the first one per day, after that its a chance (there are times ive opened 10 rewards of the worthy at once and would get anywhere between 1 and 4-5 geodes)

if you want the guarantee, then wait to open your boxes

yes, each script "type" (affix, signature, and focus) have different drop sources

affix scripts drop from IC dailies, undaunted delve daily, and incursion zone dailies
focus scripts drop from rewards of the worthy, mages guild daily, and zone delve dailies
signature scripts drop from cyro dailies and bounty boards, fighters guild daily, and zone WB dailies

the script scraps for the class mastery script also come from unique sources, but will stop dropping once you complete the achievement

only the first daily of each type is guaranteed per account, after that its a 25% chance to get additional scripts from repeated sources, i wasnt aware they added affix scripts to daily random dungeons (vet/normal)

that works too, i usually dont really farm daily quests unless i need leads, so most of the time i only incidentally get scripts

for example i have one toon im still opening siegemaster coffers (IC daily boxes) on from the event back in january, that character literally had close to 120 of the coffers after that event

still opening them, almost every day (when i remember) and im almost under 70 remaining now lol

that alone is almost gonna fill out all of the affix scripts for all of my characters lol

Addon?

That addon is Character Knowledge (by code65536). It tracks each of your character's Recipe, Furnishing Plan, Motif and Scribing knowledge. The addon can be viewed after opening its UI panel/scene like in the image, and it can also put the information on item tool-tips for easy access from your inventory. The only downside is you'll have to be in Keyboard Mode in order to see the information on item tool-tips because it doesn't display in Gamepad Mode, but a lot of addons don't work the same in Gamepad Mode so it's no big deal. (I don't blame the addon makers, the Gamepad UI is completely different from the Keyboard UI and would require a lot more work)

They also made Loot Log, Item Set Browser, Collectible Knowledge, Event Collectibles, Combat Alerts, Raidificator, etc. These addons go very nicely together and use the same UI panel/scene (with tabs to switch to each addon).

@code65536 makes some good stuff. I highly recommend their addons!
